Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

My washer will not start when I pull out the dial. However, it does work on spin. It is about 30 years old. Could it be my dial that is defective? I live in Ottawa , Ontario and would like to know the closest Maytag repair shop. Thank you, Deborah (nannydeb02@sympatico.ca)

You can call whirlpool Canada for a list of service companies,as fo the washer issue that you have remove the inside 2 phillips screws on the top of the console and lean it forward, with the power off check the fuse in the console small glass one, if it is blown it will not let the machine fill with water. if it is blown then you will also need to replace the water fill valve, the fuse is seeing high amp draw from the valve and this blows the fuse. A safety thing

Washing machine does not spin in any cycle

Hello, It can be one of two things, the contacts in the dial can have worn or broke causing the relay not to open or close to activate spin cycle.

Most likely it is your transmission or main gear for your spin cycle.

I hope its the dial which is an easy fix, but the trans is a big project IF the washer is worth it. You may consider looking for new/used washer if trans is bad. Good Luck.

Samsung vrt washer not draining

I've had so much issue with this washer since I've own it and it hasn't even been a year..I just finished fixing the same issue you have with your washer. I had to drain the washer which you were right very messy. My problem was one of the wire came lose. Of course it was from the water pump that was attached to the tub...Who would design something like that.

Doesnt agitate or spin.

Mine is 1 1/2 years old and this worked for me

unplug from power for at least 30 seconds

turn the dial to spin but don't pull out

plug back in to power and open and shut completely so switch is engaged solidly 11 times in 15 seconds.

pull out knob to turn on

This should clear a error code.

hope it helps!
