Problem with Brightness and Dimness Adjustment

When I press on Fn F6, my laptop does not go dimmer like it use to. Is there another way to change the setting for dimness and brightness other than Fn F6 & F7?

No. there isn't, unfortunately. You need to download the touchpad drivers (probably synaptics touchpad drivers). My recommendation would be to go to toshiba's website. Specifically, go here then find your model and download the touchpad driver: http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_sc_modSel.jsp

Brightness laptop

Locate the Fn (Function) key on your keyboard. It may be on the bottom left side with dark blue letters. Locate the two "brightness" keys near the top of the keyboard. These will be in the "F" keys, possibly if F6 and F7. They should have little sun pictures or something similar to indicate brightness. Hold down the Fn key while pressing F7, or whichever "F" key your laptop uses to increase brightness. Tap F7 repeatedly until you reach the desired brightness. Fn must be held down as you continue to tap.

Brighten display screen

Normally, on the keyboard of your netbook, there is a "Fn" key next to the bottom left "Ctrl" key.
after you finish booting up and have the screen veiw, press and hold the "Fn" key, then at the top there are a row of "F' keys, usually the F6 key is the key you would press to increase the brightness of your display. Each time you press the key the brightness should increase, if you press it pass the maximum brightness it will go back to a low brightness and then increase in brightness each time you press the "F6" key.

Remember, you have to hold down the "Fn" key as you press and release the "F6" key.

Luminosity of screen too low

I'm not familiar with that specific laptop, but there is usually a Function key, labeled fn on the lower right by the space bar, and then when you look at the keyboard, some of the keys have small pictures in the same color as the writing on the function key (usually blue) look for the picture that looks like a sun with an up arrow. Most laptops let you adjust the brightness that way. Just keep holding down function and pressing the brightness up key.

How to adjust the brightness on my sony vaio pcg-k17?

To adjust the brightness control, press Fn + F5 and release, plus the RIGHT ARROW or LEFT ARROW keys to increase or decrease the value.

On most notebook computers you can use the Fn+F5 keys to lower the screen brightness level, and the Fn+F6 keys to raise the screen brightness level.
