ASUS P4S800 motherboard - USB2 hubs

My computer fails to recognize the "plug and play" devices such as external hard drives when plugging into the usb2 hubs. When plugging in the devices which require drivers such as printers and scanners, my computer can recognize them.

Can anyone tell me why?

Hi.. i'. using mobo asus p4p800s-x (i know it's old..) and recently attach it to external hard disk seagate expansion 1tb. But the motherboard don't recognize it and the status is usb not recognized. how...

here is a general look at the drivers and how to update them
if your computer came with a motherboard disc the drivers could be on it
click start control panel administrive tools ,computer management ,device manager look through all of your devices if you see a yellow question mark?or exclamation mark ! or red x
right click to reinstall drivers or
if you can see your usb but its not working
ports(com&lpt)right click update driver
make sure the lead/s that attach to this drive have a secure seating and are not bad/faulty the light on only tells that its getting power it might not be getting enough power you might test the lead/s or
just replace the cable of the hard disk, when you plugged the external disk drive you got that windows could recognize the USB device change the cable everything should work fine again, sometimes the wires inside the cable will be damaged due to bending or stretching or placing heavy equipment upon the cable,
check the USB leads that attach to the motherboard usually red-white-green-black make sure they are securely seated and have no dust build up on them dust will cause static and a lot of unforeseen problems
hope this helps

I have mainboard asus p4s800-x i have hard drive 160 GB(SATA) but time reset show me no divice SATA found i do disable chip sata on mainboard and agine enable chip but no effective

If you are using Windows XP, you will need to download the Sata driver for this motherboard, save to a USB or floppy on another computer and when installing windows xp, at the "f6" prompt, direct it to where you saved the driver (ie: make sure the floppy / usb stick is plugged into the computer you are insytalling to), it will install the sata driver and then it will recognise your hard drive, no need to disable the sata chip on the mobo

My ASUS P4S800 Motherboard Got problem wont Turn on PSU is ok ram is ok vs is ok

Hello we_wo1

I see you have a motherboard problem. After the boot did it beep or something? If not check your cable from Monitor to your PC. If you have Graphics Card connect the Monitor cable from it, Not from the default port of the VGA.

Update me if still having problem.

Boot system from external hard-disk with USB2

You can check the bios and make sure that it is set to boot from USB. Turn computer off. Turn back on and immediately press F2. This will get you into the BIOS. Look around and find boot properties. Set the boot first to USB. If you do not see the USB option, then your motherboard doesn't support the boot from USB option.

Asus P4P800-X USB Problem

Maybe your USB port on your computer is model 1.0 while the hard drive is a 2.0. That would cause it not to read it. Check your system information and see what model your USB ports are.
