Kicker ZX 750.1

My amp goes into red light mode when the bass hits @ higher volumes. I went to adjust the gain and now the amp goes into the same mode even with the gain all the way down as soon as you turn the HU up to 3/4 power????

The amp is not hot waht so ever...barely warm.

Worked fine for 4 months???

I have a 08 kicker zx1500.1 amp powering a 08 kicker L7 12" 4ohm with a 15 frad hybrid soundstream compasitor and proper kicker 0 gauge wiring kit. When I turn my gain, bass bost and x-over freq. up past 1/2 the amp cuts of goes into protection mode than turns back on once I turn amp down.

So i have installed my amp, epicenter, all wiring is done, hace great ground.. But once i turn my car on to sound check everything starts fine but after turning up the volume a bit.. My amo goes into...

It sounds like you have your gain to high. best way to solve this is by turning the gain way down to - or lowest number , then turn everything on and upto the volume you desire, then slowly up the gain. also avoid using bass boost, I agree it sounds great but it puts strain on the amp and shortens life in the amp. with the bass boost off, you can adjust others (not the gain) to get bass.

Hope this helps

Did you wire the speakers in series or parallel? 4 ohm speakers in parallel actually come out to equal 2 ohms wich most amps would see as a short causing protection issues. 4 ohm speakers in series equals 8 ohms which should be fine for your amp. been there : expert-tech / SAM

check the fuse on the power wire (+) not the ground wire .. i had a kicker 1500.1 on 2 l7 15\'s and when the bass would hit hard the fuse would vibrate and cause the amp to go into safe mode.. after re wireing the whole truck i then found out it was the 150amp fuse holder

Green light turns red on hard notes with kicker 750 mono amp

First off, never, ever replace a blown fuse with a bigger one (especially one that is almost twice as big) unless it's an absolute emergency. Most of the time, the reason a fuse blows is because of a problem with the device (in this case, the amp). By installing a larger fuse, there's a very good chance the problem will become permanent (i.e. busted amp).

The amp could be going into an overcurrent mode when the bass hits and power cycling itself to try and reset the problem. If this is the case, take it to a local electronics repair shop and see what they can do.

It's also possible the input voltage to the amp is dropping too low during the bass hit, making the amp restart. Try putting a 1.0F or higher capacitor on the battery to buffer the power during the bass hits.

Peavey Bass amp 115

HI Subicbay,

ADjust your Gain setting to limit just enough so the amp does not go into Protect mode. Turn your Gain all the way down, then crank up the bass from your system. GRadually turn up the gain until you trip on protect. Turn the gain back a notch and your set for no more protect.
