My Maytag refrigerator model #PTB2454GR is leaking from between seal and freezer door frame. Still kind of cool but not enough (stuff in freezer thawed). Fan is running fine but compressor short-cycling (running about 5 seconds every 5 min or so). What do I do?

Replace the ptc relay overload on the side of the compressor body and this will take care of your issue,it just unplugs off the compressor and the replacement plugs in

Freezer is cooling normal. the lower fridge unit is not cooling enough. facing this problem since a month.

Apart from checking the setting on the regulator, I would suggest seeing if the door seal gasket is leaking. Look for water condensation around the door frame. Get a weather thermometer and put in the fridge and check after a few hours. Should be around 4deg C.

Why doesnt the refrigerator and freezer not get cold enough?

You need to check a few things -
1. settings for the temperature are not set too low. Not cold enough.
2 there is no leakage through the door seals.
3. there is not too much ice formed inside the freezer walls. Needs defrost.
4. the fridge is not overloaded with stuff - not enough capacity to cool things.
5. Not enough free space behind the fridge to allow air movement for coils to cool
Please provide more details of the problem if above not helping. For example model number, is the problem happening both in freezer and refrigerator settings. Get a fridge thermometer and monitor temperature in both sections. should be 4 deg C in fridge and -18 deg C in freezer after stable operation.

Door hot

Totally normal. The condenser sends hot gas through the frame to stop the freezer door freezing to the frame. Check to see if you have a fan behind the condenser grill and make sure its running and clean

True freezer

Things to check are:

Is the thermostat set to the correct temperature (Low, Med, High)?
Are the door seals in good repair and making a good seal with the freezer cabinet frame?
Is the door warped or distorted in any way, will lead to leaks.
Can you hear the compressor/motor running?

Maytag french door bottom freezer (does NOT have water/ice dispenser on door). There is moisture on the door seal - the movable piece - which ends up dripping on the floor every time you open the door. ...

You have a seal problem around the door or the heat strip inside the frame to prevent this is not working. Or both. So you are sure the model is the MFD2560HES. Let me know if you want me to help you solve this, Sea Breeze

Frost around icemaker and cooling coils

You have an air leak somewhere, or you just have too much stuff in there. A dollar bill put anywhere between the door and the main refrigerator should have some resistance when pulled out. If not, there is an air gap there. Usually, a new door seal, or moving some items around to get better air flow will solve the problem.

Maytag Refrigerator Model MSD2454GR

I had this problem and it was due to a poor door seal. Check around the area where the ice is forming to see if there is air leaking from the freezer.

GE Fridge: PSS26SGPA SS Model

CallMe-

Your "freezer" and "refridgerator" temps are not jumping back to 14 and 44 respectively. When you change temps, they both wait 3-5 seconds before they revert back to a temp reading, not a temp setting.

Does your "freezer" make any loud or thumping noises? If not, do you hear a quiet whisper when both compartment doors are closed?

Solutions could be :
1. Servicing the coolant (might have a small leak)
2. Checking the seal on your freezer compartment (black rubber that meets the metal frame)
3. Your internal cooling fan is not operating and needs replacing (but I think your temps would be significantly higher).

Best of luck.
