Question about RIM BlackBerry Pearl 8100

3 Answers

Hello: I have the TI PocketMate 400 organizer. I have really loved this organizer and have had it for over 10 years, however I have a problem. The Organizer had been working fine. I received a low battery notation however I was not able to change the batteries and when I turned on the organizer the screen was completely blank and the organizer did not display any information nor did it respond to any keystrokes. Subsequently I changed the batteries for the organizer. I removed both of the batteries at the same time and then replaced them with new batteries. When I turned the organizer on with the new batteries the entire display showed black "squares" across the whole display and all the function indicators (ie., Reminders, Addresses, etc.) were also present. I was able to synchronize the organizer to my PC and the details box on the PC showed that several addresses were added. Now when I turn on the organizer on I briefly see "synchronization complete" and then the screen reverts to the all black boxes I noted above and the organizer does not respond to any of the keys. Can you please help me. One solution might be to reset the organizer but there does not seem to be a reset button. In reading the manual it notes to never remove both batteries at once which I did when I replaced both of the batteries at once. I'd appreciate any solution that you can offer since I really like this organizer however TI discontinued this organizer in 1997 and it is not available anywhere (including ebay). Thanks for any help you can provide. Sincerely, Zel Dolinsky

It has to do with the contrast of the screen and has to be reset.
Solution:
1.Turn on power and press Enter.
2.Operate the cursor down till the screen brightens up enough.
3.Press another menu ie notes, now the contrast options for display are set.

That's all

Zel,

Are you still interested in a PocketMate 400? I have two or three of them, with at least one in perfect working order, all it needs is a battery.

Hi,

I also like the PM-400, especially its long battery life & simple RS232 interface. I have several much more expensive PDAs that simply aren't as practical, fast & rugged as the PM-400!

Unfortunately, several years ago my first PM-400 died with symptoms similar to those you describe. I did find another PM-400, and continue to use it to this day.

Good luck,

JWC

Transfer OZ-750 Data to Computer

Hi Pat,

and with the indulgence of otacon and Ekse...

You would need the Docking Module and the attached COM1 cable/plug.

You might find this page/document very informative if not interesting. Should you need the software (Day-Timer Organizer), it is available here. Additionally, a Q & A about OZ750 is here.

Hope this be of additional help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Hi, I has this same problem but I found in the user manual this instructions and works ok: 1. Press and hold the Start key.
2. While holding down the Start key, push the RESET button
on the bottom of the Organizer using a pen or some other
pointed object. The following message will appear.
"Do you really want to initialize the organizer's memory (this will delete all data)? Yes:[ENTER/No:[ESC]
3. Press to initialize the Organizer.
The message .Working... Please wait.. appears while the
Organizer proceeds with the initialization procedure.
The Welcome message then appears.

Palm data and ActiveSync

You won't be able to do that. Lotus Organizer as well as Lotus Notes and OutHook are PIM some plus e-mail, just like Palm Desktop is a PIM. So you can have the Treo sync with Lotus Organizer AND have the Axim sync with it also it is because there are conduits buit for them. There is a middleware that allows both to talk to one. Now if you can find a piece of software out there that will sync a PocketPC with Palm Desktop, I'm sure a lot of Palm converts would love to know that.
