resetting the remote as suggested does not work in this situation. Mine is dead too.

  • Anonymous Mar 29, 2009

my tempur-pedic remote also does not work after changing batteries & pressing the button on the power down box. the lights flash randomly on the remote but the buttons do not respond

  • bonyknees Apr 05, 2009

Happened on March 30, 2009. My husbands remote and my remote went out at the same time, just a few min. apart. The power-down box under the beds are working or so it seems because the red light is lit-up. Tempurpedic walked us through the instructions over the phone but that didn't work. Two new remotes are on the way but until then, I have been sleeping in a recliner for the last 4-5 days. I wonder how much longer I can last.

If the solution posted by Susan R. (below) fails to work, locate the black power down box under the bed. Check the battery compartment and remove all batteries. If batteries are installed they will prevent a full reset of the box. Unplug the power cord, wait 45 seconds and plug the power cord back in to reset the electronic components. Replace batteries. Now that the error has been wiped from the box's memory, you can now synchronize your remote with the power down box using Susan's instructions below. - Mike V., Antioch, CA

"Locate the power down box for the bed and press the "learn button" for 1 second and release (Black box under the bed). On the hand control, simultaneously press and hold the position 1 and off buttons. The transmission indicator light will flash slowly and then flash rapidly. Continue to hold for 5 seconds and then release the buttons. It should now work! Enjoy. Susan R., Paducah, KY"

For further assistance, refer to the user manual that came with your TEMPUR® Advanced Ergo System™ or you can download it here.

Thanks to Mike V of Antioch, CA once I took out the batteries from the power down box and left it unplugged for a minute the solution Susan suggested worked. My remote / box / motor all manufactured 12/2004 so the current manual did not help me. BTW the "OFF" button referred to by Susan in the vibration off button which is a circle with a line through it. There are no "OFF" labeled buttons on the old remotes. Maggie C, Ocala, FL

Same post as Maggie C's. Took me weeks to find this site since I lost the original instructions and mine too is as old as Maggie's with a remote looking and working like Maggie's. Followed Mike and Susan's instructions and now have bed working fine. Bev S. Minneapolis, MN

  • Bev S. Nov 17, 2013

I've needed to reset the power box many times and up until 5 weeks ago the same procedures worked. Now I can't get it to work even though it looks like it's resetting properly.

  • guyyouknow Dec 03, 2013

As I recall when speaking to a Leggett and Platt representative regarding the replacement of the motor assembly, I was informed that the electronic components of these adjustable beds are very sensitive to power spikes and surges that occur regularly in many households. One precaution to take with any piece of expensive electronic equipment in your home is to purchase an Outlet Surge Protector or better yet a Power/Line Conditioner with battery backup. Although line conditioners can themselves be very expensive, they will provide clean, regulated power to your most precious electronics. In most cases though, a simple surge protector is sufficient to prevent any damage to your electonic components. Get one and plug your bed into it. It CAN save your investment.

I have tried all of these things and also use a power surge. My bed is still not moving at all. Very aggravatung as I need the various motions in order to sleep. I would greatly appreciate any help I could get in getting my bed to work. I have searched and searched and had no luck with any assistance. Very dissatisfied.

If you've had your bed for more than two years, and the fixes above don't work, your remote has probably gone bad. The company will be 'very happy' to replace it for about $60.00!! I've already had the motor replaced twice - once under warranty and once not. For $3,000 I should NEVER have to pay for anything for this bed. What junk!

So, I should consider getting a replacement remote first? Are there local stores willing to loan me a working remote with a deposit to see IF that fixes the problem first? Anyone know?

My Remote is from 2005. Here is what I had to do:Tempurpedic Remote Control reset instructions:The "learn" button also operates the power-down function of the power down box found under the bed. First, push the learn button for one second. Next, simultaneously push and hold down the "Position 1 Button" and the "Massage On/Off "(circle with the slash across it) buttons. The transmission indicator lamp on the remote will begin to flash slowly then very rapidly. After five-seconds elapses from the start of the rapid flashing sequence, release both buttons. The remote should now be synchronized with the adjustable bed and the adjustable bed operation restored.

Bill, our situation sounds the same. Were you able to locate the power down box easily? Our bed frame wraps all the way around and is quite heavy and also screwed together. I am hoping to be able to get to the power down box without taking everything apart. Where was it located on your bed?

  • Bill Nance Sep 02, 2013

The power down box is the small box that's usually sitting on the floor. It should be very easy to get to. It has a small wire that runs up to the bed. It also has a backup battery in it. You should replace the battery once you find the box.

Well, that's just great, huh?! For the last week, we've been trying to get one of our remotes to work. We've already replaced the power down box ($40.00 not including shipping because I picked it up) because the batteries exploded and blew the battery compartment door off!! So, thanks for the heads-up. I guess I'll be calling to order a new remote. (I was told by L&P that the power down box had nothing "..at all to do with the operation of the bed.") ****!

Legget and Platt makes the adjustable bed base. Go to their web site http://www.lpadjustablebeds.com/adjustable-bed-base-manuals.asp. Look up the owner and remote control manuals appropriate for your bed, download and save for the future. Follow the instructions for reprogramming the remote control. If you have an old-school bed the ER-95MR remote control manual may be the one to use. The bed will have either a J-box on the bottom of the bed frame or a power-down box that contains two 9-volt batteries. Either box will have a push button (the "learn" button which also operates the power-down function of the power down box). First, push the learn button for one second. Next simultaneously push and hold down the "Flat Button" and the "Head Massage On/Off" buttons. The transmission indicator lamp on the remote will begin to flash slowly then very rapidly. After five-seconds elapses from the start of the rapid flashing sequence release both buttons. The remote should now be synchronized with the adjustable bed and the adjustable bed operation restored.

Hi,
My friend who has 2 brand new superflex 2000 beds with a 4 way motor and a wried remote is selling them to me for a discounted price. The boxes are still sealed. After searching on the internet, many people have complained about the remote and motor not working.I would be very grateful is anyone who has used or is still using the superflex 2000 with a 4 way motor please share their experience with me.Also some other questions I have are:

1.The newers beds have a reset function on the plug itself, but the older ones especially the 4 way motor ones don't have a reset button. So my question is what does one do if the 4 way motor is stuck? How do you reset it.

2.How many times is a reset required?

3.Also some dealers said that the 4 way motor is not successful on the superflex 2000 and has had alot of issues with it?Is this true?Any real life experience would be extremely useful.

Thanks!

Looking for the replacement of the remote control of model W595423 from year 2005. It might have been discontinued, where else can I find it aside from Tempur-pedic website?

To select a proper universal remote control, you should know about the number of digits to its set-up codes. There are 3 digit, 4 digit, 5 digit, 2 digit and even single digit codes, to some brand devices. After confirming this, check the sites linked here. Both the sites have set-up code list and set-up procedure to many popular brand remote controls. Check which brand remote control has set-up code/s to your device brand, and buy that one according to availability.
Brand name of the remote control isn't a matter, but it should have set-up codes in its code list, to the device brand you have.
Please note: Every new universal remote control will have set-up code list, and set-up procedure along with its pack. Never accept a remote control, that hasn't both of this. For more details about the set-up codes, visit the site http://electrohelponline.blogspot.com/ Check this site too. http://remotesearch.blogspot.com/ Universal remote controls are available at most of the electronic spare part selling shops.

How do I lower the back?

To lower the back, lift it until it stops firmly. Now let it fall all the way down. (It might need a little push to go all the way down.) To raise the back, lift it slowly until it clicks once. Each click is a height setting; it will stay at that height. Repeat until the back is high enough. To go back down, start over.
(This definitely applies to Tempur-Pedic TP4100 Office chair.)

The bed is stuck with head up can I manually lower the bed

We have a Tempur-pedic. Each side is controlled by its own remote. It also has battery backup for each side (head and foot) in case the power goes out. We simply push a little button on the battery controlled box on whichever side needs lowered. It works to lower them, but they cannot be raised in a power outage. If you don't have something like that, or a manual crank or something, I suggest you call the company and ask THEM what to do. If it's stuck with the power still on, then even more reason to call the company.
