Question about Hitachi 61SWX10B 61" Rear Projection Television
Have a hitachi 61swx10b rear projection television. when we turn the television on, there is static sound in the speakers and then the sound goes out. it sometimes comes back on its own after about 1 minute or stays out until we turn the television on and off. not very familiar with television jargon; can you help me figure out what the problem is and what needs to be done? What is the average cost to fix a problem like this? thank you.
Check the speaker/s. If found OK; check and replace the damaged component/s at its audio output section circuit board. If needy, replace this board as card basis. Yes it certainly sounds like you have the old convergence outpuyt IC's that have gone bad in this TV set. If you have the soldering skills, and know how to work on printed circuit boards, you can repolace both of the STK convergence IC's. If you do not, you can get the complete convergence board at http://www.ptscorp.com, and the Hitachi board number is JT22056. Good Luck

SOURCE: my color is off real
Your TV has a convergence problem. Here are some of the most common symptoms.
Screen looks 3D
One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
Screen is bowed in or warped.
Here is a quick test....
Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence or magic focus section.
Try to adjust the convergence.
You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.
If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.
Its a fairly easy fix on the Hitachi sets.
You can get a repair kit that includes all the parts from www.TvRepairKits.com. The kit includes a photo instruction guide, original Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, etc.
Everything you need to fix it yourself.

you have to tell your blu ray player to only output 1080i via component cables. Do this in the blu ray players setup menu.

Projection TV sets are known to have two common problems. The first problem that is common to these sets is convergence failure. When this happens the TV will usually look 3D, Wavy/Distorted, etc. It may also shutdown and blink an error code.
The second common problem with Projection TV sets is dull video, halos around objects, white looking video, or red overpowers the screen. This is commonly caused by the fluid in the lens being clouded overs.
