Wont turn on, not charging only one day old - GPS Devices

    My unit won't turn on. I had it fully charged, the battery is internal and not able to be removed. I turned the unit off and then tried to turn it back on... nothing. I plugged the unit in to my car charger and also my wall charger, still the unit did not respond. Should I just return it? I got the unit one week ago so it is still under warranty. I also tried resetting it to no avail. Thanks.

    It worked first thing in the morning when I entered a new location and saved it. Then I turned the unit off. I tried to turn it on and enter another address but it would not turn on. We are experiencing severe lightening/thunder storms. Could that have an effect on it?

    My c330 stopped charging while I was driving. I thought the plug had wiggled loose so I thought I would wait until I stopped driving and then check the plug. Then when the battery apparently went dead it shut off and won't restart.

    Noticed my 660 was not charging. I cannot turn it on. Nothing, it just seem to be dead. I found out that the power cord was in good working order, but still could not charge my nuvi 660. Purchased a new cord and still made no difference. Tried to reset, but still nothing.

    Unknown to me the car fuse that powers the GPS was blown. As a result my c330 battery went dead. It died while trying to find my way home. Now it won't do anything. I've tried plugging it into a good plug. It won't charge, turn on or anything.... I've only had it 8 months.

    My unit is 10 days out of warranty. I have the same problem.

    Have any of you gotten help from Garmin? Sure is a lot of money to spend for something that doesn't last more than a year.

    Nuvi 200W. 2 days ago was working fine when I turned it
    off. Now, won't turn on, get no response at all with it on either
    the car charger or the USB charger. Maybe it needs reset?

    same problem, i just got mine back from garmin corp. yesterday and it crapped out after 1 hour of use with no charger, and once again it will not turn on regardless if i try the car charger or the usb!!! SOME1 NEEDS TO HAVE AN ANSWER FOR THIS ISSUE BESIDES BRING IT BACK CUZ RETAILERS WILL NOT REPLACE IT AND IT TAKES 2 WEEKS B4 YOU GET YOUR GARMIN BACK FROM CORP AND YOUR WALLET WILL BE 30 DOLLARS LIGHTER!

    Same thing happened to mine. Problem is I don't have the receipt. It's about 10-11 months old. Should I contact Garmin itself. And if so how much are we talking about for the repair?

    my garmin was working up until last friday february 13 and when got out of work that day i tried to turn on so i can get my route home and didnt go on
    i have car charger and it was plugged into it but still not on when i got hom
    noticed little crack in outlet on back where you plugged in usb cable in the metal near the port maybe thats the problem because i keep it plugged into
    my computer usb now since friday still isnt turning on for 5 days 
    i bought it in oceanside at pc pichardson but i live in hauppauge i dont
    want to go back there to get replaced or repaired need a quick cheap
    solution to getting my garmin to work again

    we have a garmin gps 660 that is about 6 months old and used less than 5 times and have the same problem, it will not turn on, we tried resetting it , appears to be charging with both the car adapter and wall charger but does not turn on, where do we start? can it be the battery? we got it as a gift from our son so do not have the reciept/will the company stand behind it without a reciept? help! any help would be greatly apreciated!! thanks for your time

Tom tom wont switch on. tried charging it. still not coming on.


Good day sir/madam There are most likely 2 sources of such problems, the battery or the charger. Test the battery on another device, but before you turn it on, charge it for about 2 hours on the device before powering on, if it turns on, then the battery is okay, but if it does not turn on the other device,then you have to replace the battery.
Test the charger on another device to see if it will charge it, if it charges, then the charger is okay, but if it does not, then the charger is bad and the solution is for you to replace it with a new one.
Other components to test is the charging port, to test the charging port, try a well tested charger and battery on the nuvi, if it does not seem to charge, then the charging port is bad and need to be replaced.
By the time you carry out these activities, you would have been able to detect the exact problem and solve it at the same time.

Fully charged - wont turn on... way bummed


If your forerunner seems well charged and it does not come on, then there is a problem. Most likely a faulty battery. Try another battery to see if it will turn on, if it turns on, then replace your old battery with a new one. If it still does not power on, then it seems there is a hardware problem, the gps need to be disassembled and check if there is a component that has loosen connection in it, the connection should be secured tightly, then reassembled back together and the forerunner will be in good shape once again. My Tom Tom XL 325 wont hold a charge while left off


Hi, leaving the unit in the cradle exposed to the sun during hot days has been known to fry the battery causing loss of battery capacity. perhaps this could be your problem. I replaced the battery in my last GPS 4 times because of this before I analysed the problem. This will most likely be outlined in your user manual too. You might also compare the output capabilities between your blackberry and tomtom charger - it is entirely possible that you are starving the unit of a decent charge if the blackberry charger is not to the same current capacity as the tomtom charger.

Tomtom wont come on, tryed the reset still wont work, it has been chargeing for three hours


You battery is dead. Even though it is saying charging, your battery is not accepting the charge.

It wont keep a charge, the battery dies way to fast, it wont charge it with the cigarette lighter, or the house charger. once i unplug it it dies. I replaced the cigarette lighter and the home charger, and...


rechargeable batterries fade with age, neglect or misuse. Your battery is almost 2 years old from the time you purchased it, (probably 6 to 12 months older), so could indeed be dying. I just replaced a phone in my cell phone that was holding a charge for less than a day. The replacement from batterybuyer dot com fixed the problem and now my phone stays charged for 3 to 4 days.

Open the case of the GPS unit and the battery will have its specifications marked on it, usually a serial number and voltage, plus capacity in Milli-amp hours.

Wont turn on charged it it still wont turn on ,


Try holding the power button while plugging it in. Also try holding the power button while wiggling a mini screwdriver in the reset hole

Wont take charge, difficult to start


so it doesn't want to come out of the closet and has been dropped ,suffering from depression of an electronic nature. Donrt open it send it for repair to TOMTOM one which will cost, or claim it on household insurance as a dropped item.
the charge circvuit possible has a damaged wire on m/board or a loose pin on board

My gps was working last night and now it jsut wont turn on.


Hi, Has it got wet or frozen overnight? How old is the battery? Can you plug it in and try after an hour or so of charging?
Most likley your battery is dead.

Will not turn on


If it does not turn on when you plug it into the computer, yes, it sounds like you may have a dead battery. Your best bet would be to contact Garmin as to how to get it replaced.

How old is the unit? The battery could have gone bad and needs replaced. The Nuvi's are not designed to have the battery replaced by the user but it can be done. The batteries are sold on Ebay.
