I bought a house with this fridge already in it. Seems to work great, we replaced the water filter and it makes ice. Only problem is if we push the water button, water comes out, but it also comes out into the freezer. It appears as though water drips into the ice tray from somewhere above it. Any ideas? 1. A cracked plastic tube. These will leak whenever there's a call for water - either the chilled water dispenser, or re-filling the icemaker tray (two seperate tubes). Pay particular attention to anywhere the tubes are clamped to the chassis; anywhere they're routed near or under the refrigeration unit; and near the solenoid valve - especially if there's a tight loop in the tube there.
2. A bad (leaking) connection where one of the tubes exits the water valve. Again, these will leak whenever the valve is activated.
Those plastic tubes don't last forever. I've replaced many of them for the same symptoms. They're known to simply deteriorate with age.
Manuf's make good money selling replacement tubing kits.
Check Temp inside freezer. It has to be down to about 10 or 15 degrees See if water is in icemaker. Pour water in Ice Maker and wait to see if it ejects. If it ejects theb you need to replace water valve in rear bottom of fridge(Its the part that attaches to water line out of wall) If it doesn't eject then it is a faulty Ice Maker. If its leaking same part needs replaced. The water valve at the bottom rear of fridge. Thank you for using fixya Leo Ponder Please rate me if this helped.
The sadle valve is located on the copper pipe where the tube attaches to your water pipe in the house. Shut the water off at the saddle valve. Remove the hose from the rear of the frig on the water inlet valve and put it into a pail. Tunr the water on at the saddle valve and see how fast the water comes out. Some times if the saddle valve is installed on the bottom of the copper pipe they will get corrosive and restrict water flow. Open and close the valve several times to make sure it is clear and reinstall the hose to the rear of the frig. Turn the water back on to see if it works.
The water supply line is leaking.Put some paper towels down after you clean up and check real often to back track where leak is coming from, maybe your ice maker is over flowing with water. When was the last time you replaced your water filter?Could be backing up,just replaced mine,it was leaking under the fridge, mine is a Sear's Kenmore, ordered a filter from Sear's,Cost me 50 buck's,My filter is at the bottom front, your's may be inside the freezer.
is there a filter on the water line? if so check and replace as neccesary-usually all water going into a fridge ice maker is filtered if it was installed properly for fresh tasting ice......if not there usually is a valve where the water line connects to one of your houses water line ....be careful with that but make sure it is all the way open......maybe try cleaning or replacing the lines if it comes down to it. let me know what happens.
You said, Your Kitchenaid Superba KSRG25FKBL15 has bad tasting water and ice cubes. You
replaced the copper tubing which delivers the water to the fridge and
that didn't help. You replaced the copper tubing again with plastic
tubing...no better. Any suggestions? Your tap water doesn't taste this
bad.You bought a Kenmore french door fridge with water dispenser in the
door in July 2008. The fridge has a filter. A few weeks after the
fridge came the water and ice started tasting really bad, unlike any
bad water taste I have ever tasted. And your tap water is fine. The bad
taste appears to be random. Sometimes you get a cup full of nasty water
and sometimes it tastes fine.
First you must know you have a 1 year warranty and can have them come out to fix anything, no charge. If it persists. You will have to get tough and you , MUST INSIST THEY REPLACE YOUR FRIDGE
When installing the water line these were a part of the directions! Did you do this before connecting the water line to your fridge? "Place the free end of the tubing in a container or sink, and turn ON the main water supply. Flush the tubing until water is clear. Turn OFF the shutoff valve on the water pipe. Coil the copper tubing."
Whirlpool remedy Off-taste, odor or gray color in the ice 1.Are the plumbing connections new, causing discolored or off-flavored ice? Discard the first few batches of ice. 2.Have the ice cubes been stored too long? Throw old ice away and make a new supply. 3.Does the freezer and ice storage bin need to be cleaned? See “Cleaning” or “Ice Maker and Storage Bin.” 4.Has food in the freezer or refrigerator been wrapped properly? Use airtight, moisture-proof packaging to help prevent odor transfer to stored food. 5.Does the water contain minerals (such as sulfur)? A filter may need to be installed to remove the minerals. 6. Is there a water filter installed on the refrigerator? Gray or dark discoloration in ice indicates that the water filtration system needs additional flushing. Run additional water through the water dispenser to flush the water filtration system more thoroughly (at least 2 to 3 gal. [8 to 12 L] or 6 to 7 minutes initially). Discard discolored ice. Let me know what works, Thank You , HUUUM!!
