Question about Jenn-Air JCD2389G Side by Side Refrigerator

Water Leak Into Freezer

I bought a house with this fridge already in it. Seems to work great, we replaced the water filter and it makes ice. Only problem is if we push the water button, water comes out, but it also comes out into the freezer. It appears as though water drips into the ice tray from somewhere above it. Any ideas? Your help is appreicated.

Replace the water inlet solenoid valve found in back which controls the water feed into the ice maker. It may not be re-seating properly.

Ice not forming in ice tray

Hi - there are several problems that can cause this - but ultimately, if your freezer is keeping frozen foods frozen, the problem is lack of water flow.

Most automatic ice makers work on a timer. At a regular interval, if the ice maker arm is down to signal a "not full" ice bin, the heater on the bottom of the ice form turns on to break the bond between the ice and the mold. After a short time, the wiper linkage turns to allow the wipers push the individual cubes out of the mold and fall into the bin. After that, the solenoid on the water line is energized that will allow the water to flow to the ice maker to fill the mold, and then shuts off.

The water may pass through the filter inside your fridge (if equipped) and the filter may be clogged (if you can dispense water from your fridge and it works - this not likely to be the problem). Some fridges require a filter to be present - other will work without a filter - but none will work with a clogged (or frozen) filter. Make sure the fresh food compartment of the fridge is not freezing the filter.

Most of the ice maker functions are silent - except for the sounds of the ice dropping into the bin, and in some cases, the "snapping" or "clicking" of the water solenoid turning on and off (coupled with the sound of water running).

See if you can hear this happening. If you do, the problem could the either the flexible water line or the point of the water line attachment to the cold water pipe in the house. If you moved the fridge out for any reason, it is possible that the water line has been kinked or crushed when the fridge was moved back into position. If it has been undisturbed, it may be related to the valve that supplies water to the fridge. Sometimes, a clamp-on pipe piercing valve is used to connect the smaller fridge water line to the cold water pipe in the house. It is not unusual for these to give trouble after several years - particularly in areas with "hard" water. It may be worthwhile to replace this if it has been installed for some time.

Lastly, it may be the ice maker itself. It has heaters, switches and motors - any of which can fail and cause trouble. You could pour water into the the maker with a watering can or similar and let it make ice as normal. If ice is never dropped into the bin, then something on or cabling to the maker itself has failed and will likely require professional service or replacement as an assembly.

These should get you going and may pinpoint the issue - good luck!

Electrolux EW28BS71IS French Door Fridge no water and no ice

First check that you have good water pressure to the water valve. If you do, then the problem is in your refrigerator. And the most likely fault is the solenoid controled water valve which is a one in two out valve. Follow the water line from you house input and the first place it connects is that valve.

GE fridge 1999 model. water started tasting funny. found black stuff in a peice of ice. Water in rest of house seems fine.

Hello there,
When your water starts tasting funny and you can see some kind of particles in the ice, then it means the water filter is dirty and needs to be changed. Try to get the water filter replaced and the funny taste will stop.
If you are having some kind of lime taste or mud taste, or lime deposits or mineral deposit, is simply means you will have to replace the water line and reservior.
Hope this helped. All the best Elect_Comp

My Maytag side by side with water dispenser and ice maker doesn't work. We bought a house - never lived in - and the fridge and freezer work fine. We replaced the water filter and find that no water comes...

The sadle valve is located on the copper pipe where the tube attaches to your water pipe in the house. Shut the water off at the saddle valve. Remove the hose from the rear of the frig on the water inlet valve and put it into a pail. Tunr the water on at the saddle valve and see how fast the water comes out. Some times if the saddle valve is installed on the bottom of the copper pipe they will get corrosive and restrict water flow. Open and close the valve several times to make sure it is clear and reinstall the hose to the rear of the frig. Turn the water back on to see if it works.

My side by side whrilpool refreg

First of all, is there a reset button that needs to be pushed after changing filter? Mine has one. Check around the sides and top inside the fridge for a little button and push it in.

Is the water turned on going to the fridge?
If it was working before you changed filter, maybe the water line got kinked somewhere and no water can come through.

Also, if filter isn't reinstalled correctly, no water can come through it. Make sure the filter is not upside down and that the holder is screwed in all the way.

Ice maker not working

is there a filter on the water line? if so check and replace as neccesary-usually all water going into a fridge ice maker is filtered if it was installed properly for fresh tasting ice......if not there usually is a valve where the water line connects to one of your houses water line careful with that but make sure it is all the way open......maybe try cleaning or replacing the lines if it comes down to it. let me know what happens.

No water but ice is fine

remove the filter and reinstall , it may not have seated into the filter housing it will take a little while to fill the filter cartridge as you hold in the water paddle

you also may have a water valve problem, something in the water valve that goes to the water in the door that is not allowing the water to come through the valve
