Raypak pool heater is making a knocking noise

MY raypak pool heater is making a knocking noise while it is heating the water?

Make sure that gas control knob is set to ON (counterclockwise). Make sure that ON/OFF switch is ON. Check that temperature setting is high enough to call for heat. Make sure pool pump is running and water is flowing to unit.
If not above there is a diagnostic procedure on page 33 of manual at:

press the mode button until the display reads "off". Remove the four screws holding the control cover on. Swing panel down so that the back of the board is visible. Press the mode button until "RESfl" appear. Press and hold both "up" and "down" buttons for 5-7 seconds until three dashes appear (---). This resets the fault history and clears any stored faults.

Raypack 2100 pool heater runs for a couple of minutes then loud banging noise. heater shuts off and error code HL appears
That HL is your high limit shutting the heater down. The banging is the sound of water boiling in the heat exchanger because it is moving too slow. This is almost always the result of the bypass or governor (thermostat) not working properly, so too much water is bypassing the heater. It's not too hard of a fix.

What does CFH means on my control board?

You have a spring loaded valve inside the water manifold. Open the manifold and make sure that that valve is closing. Then or first make sure if you have a by-pass valve be sure that is almost closed.these will make sure that the water is going through the heater. Also remember you shouldn't be able to feel any hot water at the returns. That is part of what these valves do. They help keep anyone from getting scolded by too hot water. The water at the return should be no more than 7 to 10 degrees hotter than when it goes into the heater.

What does CFH mean on your pool heater and how do you fix it?
CFH is call for heat and the flame is about to come up. The banging you hear is the water inside the heater overheating to a boil. What you have is a water flow problem. If you have a valve bridging the water into the heater and the water going out be sure this valve is 80-90% closed so it forces water through the heater. If not you may have a problem inside the water manifold on the side of the heater. Their is a water by pass disc inside the header if stuck open will cause the same problem. Also check your baskets and filter to be sure they are clean.

you may have a bad pressure switch.if you are getting flow thru the heater and this code is comeing on there are only two reasons.No flow or bad switch.
