I have an LG GW525 and no one can hear what I am saying? Everything else works fine. I have toggled the mute button on/off and even tried speaker phone. I reset to default settings, that didn't work either. Any suggestions?

if the phone is old or has been dropped then it could be your mic that has broke. the speaker is at the top ( so you can hear ) mic is at the bottom ( so they can hear ) but if you know the phone is fine or was fine then you could of muted the call. dial out and keep the phone away from your ear so you can check the screen ( the screen turns off when you hold it to your ear ) then you can check for a mute button or secrecy button. ( we use them to put people on hold so they cant hear what we say )

check mute button, source knob/button, speaker selection knob/button while its playing a cd or FM radio. Also if you have connected headphones the speakers would mute. Check the speaker connections. If the speakers are powered you need to connect them to a power source. If all these fail to produce sound consult a technician.

jst go to the setting and turn mic on....if it is not working properly then u hav to repair ur mic..

if everything works fine check your audio setings lower right side of your screen right click on the speaker icon check playback devices and recording devices select using the drop down on the menus if there are other audio devices on the list try selecting that and play around your Mic if you can do a recording on microsoft and check if the mic is in mute undet the sudio properties under sounds check th mic settings ..... ^_^

3. If your Nuvi has a FM transmitter, is it selected to "FM" or "Speaker"? The "FM" setting will mute the internal speaker. Setting it to "Speaker" will send sound to the speaker.

if this side of it works then the FM transmitter is faulty

Check that the sound has not been MUTED

plug the earphone into the socket to see if any sound is heard. The socket is also a switch that takes sound from internal speaker to ephone and reverse.
If no sound is hear in either FM or normal mode your unit is faulty and needs repair

there is a mute key attop the phone that has a speaker symbol with a line through it. whilst in a call press this button to unmute your microphone!

this wouldn't be covered unless you have the accidental damage warranty. it seems like the speker is flipped over now

First try resetting the unit. If that don't work try this:

Press and hold the SETUP button for at least 3
seconds.

2 Press the UP button repeatedly to select
“mute”.

Each press of the UP button changes the
modes as shown:

NOTE
If you press the DN button the display scrolls in
reverse sequence.

3 Press the TUNE button to toggle the mode
between MUTE ON and MUTE OFF

4 Press the SETUP button to set the selected
mode.

→ NORMAL/HI-FI → AMBER* → DIM → SUB
DEMO ← AUX ← SCR ← MUTE ←BEEP ←

an initial simple check you can make is to make sure that the secrecy or mute button is not activated or stuck, however as you say that the phone is brand new, I would strongly advise you to contact the vendor immediately and ask for it to be replaced as it is faulty.

Push both volume buttons at once to turn Mute off. You should hear two beeps, ascending in pitch to indicate mute is off. If they go down in pitch mute is being turned on.
