D52W20 won't turn on

My RCA D52W20 won't turn on. I sent it to an RCA authorized repair shop. They told me that the power suppy need replaced. Will cost almost $500. Just want to be sure that I'm not getting ripped off before I tell them to go ahead.

RCA D52W20 52 in. Rear Projection HDTV power light blinking

Liz, yes it is a power supply problem, better question is; low voltage or high voltage power supply ? count the blink code, it should repeat the code, once you have the code call your local tv shops and give them the model number of your tv and the blink amount and they`ll tell you price to fix, gl, video-tek

RCA rear projecton model number D52W20

the rca itc222 will shut down for any of 25 different reason. the fact that u see a flashing light lets u know one thing it is not the main fuse. the most common reasons for shut down involve high voltage parts. In the shop we have a computer interface that let us diagnose much like error codes in a car. the d52w20 is a old version of the tic222 and average repair at my shop is 250 to 400 and if its the tubes then it wont be worth fixing. tubes run 250 apeacie and by the time labor is put in that can run as high as 1000. I SEE ALOT of these at shop. How are you with electronics. rember this set can hold a charge and can be dagerous
