when i turn on my etec mp4 player it turns on, but when i select the music folder it shuts off. help me please

When I plug my mp4 etec player into the electric outlet it says it is charging but when I try to use it the next day the battery says not charged.

my etec mp3 player will turn on when i plug it into the computer but when i disconnect it it wont turn on
