You need the Recovery disk that came with your computer.
If you do not have this disk then, contact Dell to purchase a Recovery CD for your model Dell laptop.
The other way is to do a new Windows install. Use a Windows installation CD; it must match the Windows version on the Windows Product Code label on your computer.
You will also need to download the device drivers for your model laptop from the Dell WEB support site, make sure the download the correct XP or Vista version of the drivers which matches the Windows version you are installing.
You can download the drivers from Dell WEB site, the support download page. Make sure you select your model desktop or laptop, better still, type in the Service Tag number, it is printed on the label on the bottom of the laptop and on the back or sides of a desktop. (If the Service Tag label is missing then go into the BIOS setting and on one of the BIOS pages, the Service Tag number will be displayed). This will open the page where the specific drivers for your model computer are located. Also make sure you select the Windows XP or Vista version of the drivers for your Windows operating system.
