How to play Blu-ray movie on 5536G?

You need to download K Lite Codec Pack (Its Free) and you can install it via....... or you can try googling it.

It contains all the different audio and video codecs. Your computer might not play it because it doesnt have a blue ray codec by default

you should have all your programs on a recovery partition or on a separate disc....if not then contact acer and they should send you a recovery disc

About 9 months ago I purchased an Acer Aspire. But until now I never used the blu-ray drive. When I first used it, the disc performed ok. But the very next time that I used it, it refused to play. A notice came up as below.
“A critical component of the player requires periodic updates. New movies could fail to play if the critical component is not updated promptly. Would you like to update now? [YES] or[ NO]”
Now, whenever either button is selected, the screen changes as though the disc is going to be played. But then up pops the notice again! This keeps on happening time after time! So I decided to update the program that runs movies etc.
In Acer Arcade Deluxe version [1.14 .6907] I did a live update. And then I tried a Blu-ray disc. The notice came up and I clicked on YES and Internet Explorer started up and was taken to the Cyberlink .com site. A notice came up with the link to update as needed. After the download I minimised Explorer and found the download ready to install. Eventually I tried the disc and it ran ok, with small skips all the way through the movie. I now probably need to look into the buffering of the disc. But at least it works now.

There's really nothing special you need to do.

If the drive doesn't read any disc's you need to reinstall the drivers and verify you have the latest version. If the drive is ONLY having trouble with Blu-ray then i'm assuming it's the player that you're using; it may not have the right Codac's etc. Also, try multiple Blu-ray movies to verify it isn't just the one movie.

Ok I,m not sure i can solve the problem for you, but have had problems with my acer 6920 G. Hopefully this will help. I was playing blu ray discs on my acer 6920 G wich i believe has the same sony/nec Optiarc blu-ray player. It was playing blu rays fine for a while. then as newer and newer releases were coming out it would not play some blue rays from certain manufacturers (Fox). Then newer releases from other manufacturers would not play. I was getting updates from acer arcade deluxe that would allow me to play some of the newer releases. The only problem i was having was that the updates (patches?) were not keeping up to the newer releases. The last update from acer was corrupted or somthing was wrong with it and then my blu-ray player wouldn't play anything at all. To solve the problem I reinstalled acer arcade deluxe using the acer e recovery management. This fixed the problem. But now back to square 1. My older blue rays will play but not the newer ones. I've been going over this problem for a while now. The Acer site was no help at all. The e-mailed me some solutions both hardware and software but weren't even close to what the problem is. You can try Cyberlink Power DVD 8 and it runs better than the Acer Arcade Deluxe. (They write the updates for the acer arcade deluxe) It is expensive the last time i checked. Hope this helps a little.

Ok....I have the same problem...Acer Arcade Deluxe can't read any of the new blu-ray discs coming out after the first of April.....

I've been in contact with Acer Support by email....and they can't help us....well they're not.....I did everything they asked....Factory restore....which is the stupidess idea.....the program needs an upgrade...and its not by reinstalling the older version that it will work....any way....after 12 emails...they told me to call Acer support...and I didnt get the chance to speak with anyone...the computer said that my serial number was not supported by their phone service and i should trying contacting by email.....

Anyway...everyone who bought Acers with a Blu-ray player in it...all got screwed up big time....they stop selling them in stores..and Acer Arcade Deluxe has been discontinued by Cyberlink Corps. ....so there is nothing we can do....the only way this could be fixed....Acer would have to buy everyone a new software that read blu-ray discs like Power DVD 9 Ultra...thats sells for more than a 100$....

BTW I got my notebook 4 months ago...1000$ and already i cant read blu-ray.....
