Question about E-Machines eMachines Monitor E15T4

LCD Monitor I have this LCD Monitor that's missing its original adapter. I tried one with 12 volts and 1.5 amps, but the screen looks very dark. Do I need the original adapter or do you think it has another problem?

If you can see the images on the screen, but it is very dark, then the inverter circuit has failed and will need to be repaired.

Safest bet is to try your local TV repairman to have the inverter repaired. The voltages inside are far higher then what you have in your wall sockets and can be lethal for inexperienced repairers.

Call and get a few quotes based on this information, and also to find out who will work on an LCD monitor, some will, some won't

Sylvania CL772B LCD monitor has no power

The board with 200-100-SH700 on it may be the problem. I came up empty trying to find anything with that number, there should be some other number either ink-stamped on the board or on a paper sticker.
Google can be your friend if you find the right number.
Somewhere there may be someone with one of the same with a broken screen. Ebay?

The specs for this monitor is a 60 Watt, 12 Volt, 5 Amp power adapter. The voltage must be the same. You can always get an adapter with a higher Amperage rating, but never get one with less, as this can overheat the adapter and damage it. I was not able to locate specs on whether the voltage to the monitor is DC or AC... most are DC. If this is the case, the observe the polarity at the monitor. Power adapters have a positive and a negative... center and outer contact, Make sure that the power adapter matches that of the monitor, else it will not work.

What voltage is the dc adapter?

You will need at least a 4 amp rated regulated 12 Volt power supply.
These are commercialy available from most electronics parts suppliers.
They come on a circuit board. You can mount it in your own case and
use the original Viewsonic wire end. If you do a google search for 12
volt reglated power supplies you should find many of these.

However, with a second-hand Sprint AC adapter with 3A,
12v adapter, the screen blinks on and off
intermittently. Obviously there is some difference here between a class
2 adapter and a power supply box.

Samsung SyncMaster 710N 17" LCD Monitor - Grey screen

Does this unit have an external power supply (wall wart)? If so, substitute a known good one of similar specs. If the original is 12 Volts/1.2 Amps, find a 12-15 Volt/1.2 or greater Amp. DO NOT go over the voltage more than about 15-20%. DO NOT go under the current rating less than 90% for just long enough to see if it works. Be sure the connector fits PERFECTLY!!! Some will appear to fit but will be loose. Do not under any conditions replace a DC supply with an AC one or vice-versa.

Need AC/DC adapter for monitor!

Hi inkedpandora, http://icm.computercci.com/pgi-productspec?PSO080 This one should work for you it's the same voltage and amperage as your unit. 19VDC 3.16A Any standard power cable from an old printer or computer will work with one of those PS's. The only thing you need to check before you buy is the polarity of the barrel connector. I looked on the net but could not find out that info so look at the jack where the power plugs into the monitor. You might see a little diagram showing a + and - signs. If the line coming off the + sign goes to the semi-circle than the barrel is positive and if the - goes to the SC the barrel is negative. Ask them before you buy which way that one is. As long as they are the same you will be able to use that PS. Good Luck, Dude
