Printer keeps telling me to press enter to align cartridses
I put in a new print cartridge yesterday, it printed some stuff i had put in before it would not print before the new cartridge, I mad a couple copies then it said press enter to align cartridge. That is all it will give me, I guess I have run that 10 or 12 times then it says the same thing again. What do I need to do?
Re: printer keeps telling me to press enter to align...
This happened to me with an HP psc 2110. What it had come down to was the Scanner could not find 'home". Under the platten or the glass there is a scanner that moves from left to right. This "reads the white strip that is there(you cannot see it due to the molding that covers the area also it is located on the underside of the glass). This needs to be cleaned as well as the mirrors of the scanner itself. I have performed this many other times with other HP type scanners of this nature. This is something that is left to the tech's that know how to take them apart. I say this due to the hidden plastic clips that are recessed within these machines. If you are too heavy handed, they will break. But the cleaning of these areas will get rid of that error code,Good Luck, Best Regards,Steve

I have found that if I put in an old aligned page the printer reads it as and the alignment is accepted. As for the cancelled message being in the window, I have had this problem too. I've ignored it and selected the copy button and it took the command. The only problem with hitting cancel is that you cannot turn off your printer. Every time you do you have to repeat the aligning and cancellation process.
Align your cartridges to solve print quality problems such as:
• Characters are not properly formed or are not aligned at the left
• Vertical, straight lines are wavy.
1 Load paper in the paper support.
2 On the control panel, press Copy.
3 Press Options until Maintenance appears.
4 Press the right arrow until Align Cartridges appears, and then
An alignment page prints. Once this page prints, your automatic
alignment is complete.

I just noticed in the link to your forum item that additional text appears that does not appear in the item itself. It looks like you are getting a message telling you to press Enter to align your print carriage. This is a common step after you replace an ink cartridge. According to HP.com, here's what you are supposed to do:
"A message will appear in the front panel display requesting that the ink cartridges be aligned. Press Enter to start the cartridge alignment. Two pages will print. Following the instructions printed on the second page, place the first page on the scanner glass in the lower-right corner and then press Enter to finish aligning the cartridges. Remove the page from the scanner glass when complete".
There is no doubt in my mind it Will be the cartridges you are using, alignment will continue to be requested if print out is missing bits do yourself a favour and use HP gen., not trying to plug HP just telling you the facts
