Question about LG VX8300 Cellular Phone
Hi, My service provider changed the way it services my phone. I now have a split signal. EV- and 1X. I want to revert my phone back to 1X only. For this new EV service drops calls . Thanks PS I have the special code to do the job. I just do not know how to get into the (service code screen). Thanks
EV does not drop calls as it is not used for calls. EV is ONLY a broadband network .. In other words, it does not transmit voice ... Only data ;)
If your dropping calls then try turning the phone off ..then back on then dial *228 then option 1 and see how it does then.
If your calling other cell phones and it's dropping calls then it's 50/50 as to who's at fault there.

I'll start with the first step (just in case you have not
tried this and for others not as advanced as you) because you may need the
information for BB Handheld Tech Support.
There is a Device Self Test Diagnostic Application that will test your BB including your RF signal status. Go to OPTIONS, (the wrench).
On this screen select STATUS.
Type the word TEST. (you won't see it but it will give you a
prompt when ready to prpceed. (
It will prompt you to select START from the MENU.
This will begin the diagnostic selection process.
Scroll down to RF COMPONENTS; click on the checkbox; scroll down and click on RUN; then click on the telephone number.
The menu will pop up, scroll down to CALL. You should get a recording which is fine. This process is just testing your signal strength which is represented by the 1X or in your case 1x. The signal strength should be maintained throughout the call process. In your case I think it would fail the test. It will prompt you for a PASS or FAIL response. If the call does not go through or it does not maintain a strong signal, that is your problem. Click fail and
Call your mobile/cellular service provider. The
technician for Blackberry Handheld dept. will need to run their diagnostics
from their side of the galaxy. They will work their magic and your symbol
will change to 1X and you'll be good to go.
PS Note down any error messages you receive so you can
accurately tell the technician when he asks.
It can help the Tech speed things up while troubleshooting.
