A pure sine wave inverter will usually allow a microwave to run quieter and cooler and more efficiently all around.

So the oven has 850 watts of cooking power?

That would mean its power consumption could be as high as 1700W while cooking, but it could surge or spike higher when it first turns on due to the inductive load it offers.

I would think a 3000W inverter should handle that, but that also depends on its peak surge wattage.

As long as the microwave works properly in a normal wall outlet, I'd say maybe it's too much for this inverter and I'd check back with the dealer on this for his input.

Bottom line: Make sure the oven works well in a wall outlet, and check your inverter's peak surge rating.

My LG microwave Model No MG555F made a loud explossive sound while warming rice gruel and continued to work normally; the incident repeated while I was warming fried fish; the machine continued to wor

The sound you heard was an internal ARC/Short in the Magnetron which creates the microwaves, This is an imminent sign of complete failure, Due to the decrease in prices of new microwaves it is no longer economical to repair them so start looking for a good special on microwaves.

Turns off after 2 to 4 seconds

Hi, am afraid it sounds like the power control module is bad. The new module retails for about $155, APP has it for $129. You can try replacing the module, or purchase a new microwave. Over the range microwaves start at about $280-$350 and can go up to $1000 depending on brand/features. Microwave installation is typically $35-$50.

Oven won't heat food

Bad Magnetron. Unfortunately, and especially on high power microwaves, magnetrons do die. They'll probably run you between 100 and 300 dollars to replace. If you believe that your microwave is within warranty(not likely), contact the manufacturer for repairs. Otherwise, it may just be cheaper to purchase a new microwave.

Sorry that this answer doesn't produce a happy result, but it's an unfortunate fault of microwaves as a whole.

Hi - I really do not like to condemn any machine however microwaves have become very inexpensive - more efficient - quieter and packed with more features than ever before for a reasonable price. If you are handy unplug the unit and remove the front panel (a few screws ) at the keypad to expose the keypad harness, please check the harness connection. It is not uncommon for a keypad to fail. If the keypad still fails I advise purchasing a new machine simply because the parts, shipping etc will likely exceed the pro rated value of your machine. I know it is hard to let go sometimes but in the case of old microwaves it is generally wise. Microwaves can last well over 10 years. The good news is you will be getting a warranty with your new one should you decide to go in that direction. Hope its the harness, Sincerely Brian

'Start' button won't depress, seems jammed; timer knob broke off

the button is stuck because of food buildup over the years underneath the button, this happens even to newer ones after about a year of use, new microwaves are cheap and the lower end models start at only $35 from walmart I would reccomend buying a new one, newer microwaves use less power and are more effecient so a new one will pay for itself in saved electricty costs after about 2-3 years of use.

H97

Hi there..

If it is displaying error H97, this means that the invertor(power supply Panasonic part number: Z606YM300BP,) is not functioning. The magnatron may also be faulty.

You can get a new invertor on ebay.UK from here

Here is some more information about the part. The microwave may also have a faulty magnatron. If you are unsure, then you should get someone to look at the unit for you before you go buying parts.

BEWARE... VOLTAGES INSIDE MICROWAVES CAN KILL

Panasonic part number: Z606YM300BP, supersedes all previous versions of the inverter used with the 2M261-M32J This Inverter is now available at a lower cost, it used to be £60.00 plus VAT and delivery trade price.
This inverter is fitted to many of the more recent Panasonic inverter type microwaves such as the NNC596S .Some microwaves such as Bosch and Siemens also use this inverter as they are rebranded Panasonic ovens. These ovens are upmarket models, some include advanced functions such as steaming and are normally well worth repairing.
The inverter as fitted to earlier ovens with the 2M236-M42 and 2M236-M1 is also available.

An inverter microwave oven is one without a high voltage transformer You will know you have one as it is not extremely heavy at one end. This type of microwave uses a high power DC converter, called an inverter, to produce the high voltage and filament voltage required by the magnetron.
If you purchase this item for replacement in your microwave then we recommend that you do this only if you are qualified and aware of the dangers of tampering with electrical equipment.
Failure of the magnetron is common and at times the inverter can fail as well. Sometimes the inverter fails on it's own. If your microwave blows the 10 amp mains input fuse as the cooking cycle starts then you probably need a new inverter. An instruction sheet with basic guidelines on fitting will be provided but please do not purchase this item unless you are confident about fitting it. We only accept returns if the inverter supplied is defective which is extremely unlikely.
If you have one of these ovens that is not cooking then it is worthwhile looking at the magnetron. It often shows signs of distress through overheating.

As well as the inverter failing it is also possible you could also have a defective magnetron,

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa

A FixYa rating would be spot on for this information to you.

regards
robotek
