Question about HP Photosmart C6180 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

TGC We are a private golf facility. Our C6180 started printing our member statements at the end of the month and will not stop. We try to cancel the print and it works until all of the faxes that have been waiting to come through do so and it picks right back up on printing statements. Is there a way to re-set the machine?

Hello Eddie Moon

To clean your print que (which will "kill" this print-job-run-amuck), please do the following:

(01) Click on the START button (at your computer in Windows XP; if yours is a different operating system or this does not work, please, let me knw.

(02) Click on RUN

(03) Type in (verbatim) what is below
net stop spooler

(04) A black window will rapidly open then close. You may even miss it.

(05) Now, type in (verbatim) what is below
net start spooler

That should do the trick. If you can't print after (but the print job did get stopped), repeat step (05)

A print job, although cancelled, doesn't leave the printing list.

Please try this approach:
  1. Browse to Start -> Run... and type in NET STOP SPOOLER (this will stop the print spooler service)
  2. Browse to your windows\system32\spool\PRINTERS\ folder. You should see files there ending in .SPL and .SHD created around the time you tried to print - delete these files.
  3. Browse to Start -> Run... and type in NET START SPOOLER (this will restart the print spooler service)

Try to print a document again to verify that the problem is fixed.

Try to check your printer cable if it is working or in the printer settings try to see if the exact port was chosen. If your problem still exist you can start a fresh install of your printer, uninstall first the previous printer then install your printer again.

Try to completely reboot your printer or fiddle around with the printing status on your actual computer. If that doesn't work try erasing the printers memory of ever printing anything then re-sync it with your computer.

Hello you can delete the print job manually.
you need to have administrative right on the computer to do this.

go to run> input "cmd"

net stop spooler
go to
%SystemRoot%\system32\spool\printers or(System32\SpoolPrinters )
delete all files that ends with->
.SPL

write in cmd "net start spooler"
check your printer job now and it should be gone.

Cancel printing doesn't work

If you have tried a reboot then why don't you try a Soppler Refresh.
Click on Start> Run (and type Services.msc) Hot ok.
It should open services window up.
Then look for Print spooler> Double click on it> Under General amke sure startup type is selected as Automatic> Then down you shoul see a tab which says stop> Click Stop (Now a small windows popps up and closes) You will see Start Highlighted> Click start and stop will be higlighted> if applicable click on apply or ok and close all the windows and restart the computer.
Then go to Start> Control panel> Printers and faxes> and check to see if the icon say 0Ready> if yes right click on the icon and left lick on Properties and then in the bottom you will see a tab which says print test page> click and see if it prints a test page.
Then try printing any document.

Good Luck
