I have the same problem with the same motherboard as well. Did you find a resolution to this problem?

I already check that all power plugs are correctly fastened. I will plug another video board in order to check if I can see at least BIOS settings. Keyboard also appears not to be working.

I HAVE HTE EXACT SAME ISSUE, DID YOU EVER FIND A SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM???????

  • Anonymous Jan 27, 2009

Power supply fan spins, hard drives spin up, no beeps, no cpu fan or main board fans. It's like a voltage rail is down but it seems it's probably the main board, not the power supply. I've tried new and old power supplies and no luck, but they work on other computers.

2 days after this problem started it actually worked again for 8 hours, but it wouldn't restart after I shut it down.

How long have you been experiencing this problem? Are you sure your hard drive has not been formated? Check inside the case to make sure all power plugs are fastened securely to the motherboard and peripherals.

I need a cooling fan for my motherboard which is a ptgd1-la. it is the 4 pin type which is screwed into place as opposed to the clip on type

Shop for a Socket 775 CPU heatsink with fan. Many to choose from. Just watch the physical size. That it does not extend out drastically and hit other components.

Clock gen. ptgd1-la - what is #?

Clock gen. depending how it is used int he sentence or paragraph can mean the clock generating chip, or portion of a multifunction chip.

It can also mean your clock speed, such as the 800Mhz buss speed that board is capable of. If there are jumpers by it, if it is on the board- you have to manually set the buss speed, or the manual setting will take precedence over the bios/system selected buss speed. This would be for the speed you choose for the memory sticks primarily

It can also refer to the source of the clocking reference if you wanted to try overclock your processer for greater computing speeds than the factory designated speed.

What is the Maximum graphics memory supported on the Asus PTGD1-LA Motherboard, Or specifically on The Hp pavilion a767c desktop? Right now my a767c desktop has an Ati-radeon x300 SE 128mb ddr 64-bit...

Hi,

Thanks for asking FixYa for help. My name is Jeff and I will be assisting you today. You didn't specify your operating system, which is a critical component. With a 32 bit operating system the total addressable theoretical memory limit is 4 MB. This includes system ram AND video ram. You should be fine with the 256MB card as it is pretty small. So, if you have a 32 bit system, anything over about 3.2 MB total is a waste.

If you are in need of additional help, please let us know.

Thank you for allowing us to help you today.

My HP Media Center PC M1170n with a asus ptgd1-la motherboard runs but will not boot. The fan runs, both CD and DVD drives attempt to read(lights flash for several seconds each) but even using the HP...

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect your hard drive
Test the leads that attach to your ((hard drive from the motherboard)) or replace all the leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions + IDE,SATA and the ones that attach from your ((motherboard to hard drive))
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they are probably old and faulty a computer needs its connections to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error
if this fail to fix the problem
make sure that the cd rom is getting enough consistent power test all leads that are attached to the cd rom including electical extensions and make sure they have a secure connection or just replace them there might be bad/faulty or
your drivers may have been corrupted or you might have a virus run your antivrus program
you might have to physically unplug the leads for this cd rom then plug them back in this will activate found new hardware wizard
hope this helps or
you might have to uninstall then reinstall your cd rom or uninstall the driver then reinstall for this device
also
control panel admistrive tools, computer management, device manager scroll down cd dvd rom drives right click you can you can update driver, roll back driver,or select properties general troubleshoot, select driver click to reinstall drivers click update driver or uninstall then reinstall
only do the registry check if you cant see the drive/s in windows explorer/my computer
or it might be a registry problem
Close all open programs

Click on Start, Run, and type regedit and press Enter
Click on the plus signs (+) next to the following folders

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

SYSTEM

CurrentControlSet

Control

Class

{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

This folder is the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class Description in the registry. Look for any of the following names in the right hand column.

Upper Filters

Lower Filters

Upper Filters.bak

Lower Filters.bak

If any of the above keys shown in step 4 are listed, right-click on them and choose Delete

After deleting the keys, close the registry editor
Reboot your computer

Open My Computer and check to see if your CD or DVD drives have returned. You may also want to open Device Manager and verify that the yellow exclamation and error code on the CD or DVD drive is gone.

hope this helps

I have the ASUS PTGD1-LA Motherboard, anyways, i recently took out all the components inclucing the motherboard, to look at the bottom side looking for the id number..Anyways, I put everything back...

Hi there , THis sounds like a CPU issue...Make sure you correctly put the CPU fan , and heatsink back on .... otherwise your CPU will overheat and cause your PC to turn off , so that it wont damage your CPU.Try making sure those are correct.
Thanks

How should I upgrade my BIOS pls

The first uestion to ask yourself is "Do I need to upgrade my BIOS?"

If you are not conversant with doing so then you could rendr your PC irrepairable.

The BIOS is the heart of the motherboard and has nothing to do with system issues and should not be taken on by novice computer users.

If everything is running OK don't try and fix it.If not state the problem, it will probablely have nothing to o with the BIOS
