Our Startype 3 typewriter now sticks when we type -- the tiny striker piece does not hit the character on the wheel consistently so we get jammed up or very light print... please advise a fix... Dori

Machine may be dirty inside....try cleaning the silver rod that the carriage slides across left to right inside the machine...then lubricate the shaft with a lightweight oil.

Olympia Startype 3 occasionally types double vertical line and spacing is changing between letters

Check the printwheel for any broken or bent spokes. vertical lines means the wheel is between letters so either a problem with printwheel or something preventing wheel from turning normally.

Nakajima ae-710 does not give a clear print. I suspect the striker pin. How do I lubricate it?

You should not have to lubricate the "striker"....type some characters then remove the ribbon cassette and see if the characters are spaced properly or are typing on top of each other on the carbon ribbon. You may have put the machine into a "multi-strike" mode....you can get a manual at www.nadist.com

Striker Sticking When Erasing. Brother ML100 Typewriter

Sounds like the gears you cleaned may be dry and sticking, spray a little WD40. or that gear on the right side is still out of time. I think there is a spring clutch in the gear train which may be bad. One secret to repairs is to perform the same actions that you want the typewriter to do by hand and watch closely. You may see something not movving, or moving slow that under power you won't see.
