Onboard means the sound card is incorporated with the motherboard.

where as

An addon card is plugged into one of the expansion cards located on the motherboard. If you are looking at the back of the case you will see two or three narrow rectangular shaped slots towards the bottom of your case. If your speaker cable plugs into one of those slots then you have an expansion card, if not then you have onboard sound.

Just give me the make and model of your computer and I will look for the driver.

This could be that the Onboard Sound Card is turn on in the Basic Input Output Settings, these control wich devices start and run when you computer is first turned on. Commonly known as the BIOS there very often is a setting in there for the sound to come from the onboard sound card or the one installed seperately. You must access this setting when you first sstart your computer, and switch it to disable onboard sound.

Go to Volume Controls - Options menu - Properties... is it in the Mixer drop down box there? You might find the problem is that any onboard soundcards you have on the motherboard are now set to default since you reinstalled. In which case go to device manager and disable it. If problem persists try a reinstall of saffire whilst the onboard card is disabled. Some motherboards allow you to disable the onboard sound from the bios menu too, that could be something to try

How to unsinstall my onboard sound card drivers

Hi,
You can usually disable your onboard sound card by going into your BIOS setup when your PC starts. Older mother boards have a jumper setting on the board to disable onboard sound. If you cannot do either of these, then just disable your onboard card in "device manager"

that should be your sound driver assumong you've got onboard sound...  before downloading and trying to install this check your BIOS and make sure onboard audio is set to "on" or "enabled"
if this is a PCI or other non-onboard sound device then you'd need to tell me which one it is

Hi! Think you have installed adriver not recommended to be used with your pc. Try installing a diffrent version. You can download it from the link--
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/

If it doesn't work go to bios settings when your PC boots by pressing F2 key. Then go to Advanced options and change the value of

Onboard Serial Port 1 : Option should be set to 3F8/IRQ4 .
Onboard Serial Port 2 : Set this to 2F8/IRQ3
Onboard AC97 Audio Controller: Enabled

Thanks

No audio output

Is the audio device onboard, or do you have an addon card? If it is onboard, I will need the make and model of your computer to find the driver.
