Get the latest menu that includes the latest x-menu

follow these steps:
format the mk5
transfer all files from the download to the root of the mk5(copy the whole ds system folder to the root, let those files stay in the sytem folder, it's directly in the mk5, not in any subfolders. the same place where you put the games and the saves)

Now reboot and it should work.

while transferring the menu fioles it's nice to also upload the latest savetype file

Here are a little better instructions to help you out

All I can say is it worked fine for me. The instructions are simple to follow.
    Neos instuctions:
    1. Use MK5 USB Linker connect PC , and enter USB data exchange mode , PC will detect one removable disk (MK5) have inserted
    2. Copy "MK5_Menu_V1.39_AUTO_Upgrade.nds" to MK5
    3. Restart NDS, enter MK5 menu, choose "MK5_Menu_V1.39_AUTO_Upgrade.nds" and run it,and restart NDS.
    4. When NDS power on, hold L+R+A+B+DOWN to fast format whole MK5, or you can use A+B+START+SELECT+UP to make a low-level format ,then copy all data (include folder) from this uncompressed file.
    5. Now new system is ready ,restart NDS and enjoy it!

My slightly expanded changes to the instructions:

    1. Use MK5 USB Linker connect PC , and enter USB data exchange mode , PC will detect one removable disk (MK5) have inserted

    2. Copy "MK5_Menu_V1.45_AUTO_Upgrade.nds" to MK5

    3. Remove MK5 USB Linker and restart NDS, enter MK5 menu, choose "MK5_Menu_V1.45_AUTO_Upgrade.nds" and run it.

    4. Restart NDS. When NDS power on, hold L+R+A+B+DOWN to fast format whole MK5, or you can use A+B+START+SELECT+UP to make a low-level format. Note: Low-Level Format takes a long time!

    5. Use MK5 USB Linker connect to PC. Restart NDS. Enter USB data exchange mode. Then copy the following files from this uncompressed .rar file to your MK5:
    DSYSTEM (entire folder & contents)
    MK5_2Mbit_test_V5.nds
    MK5_PassMe.nds
    xmenu.dat

    6. Now new system is ready ,restart NDS and enjoy it!

    HI again,

    So here is a solution.

When you put it into USB mode and accessed it on your computer, you
must have opened the xmenu.dat file. For some reason, this corrupts the
card (there is no problem unless you open that file) all you need to
do, is format the card and then put on the xmenu.dat file again.

    Goodluck,

All the files you need are at www.neoflash.com.

Your need (MK5) v1.45 which is in the download section.

Some of the nds roms do needed unraring before putting on memory card. They should be in .nds format etc.

    The files you need are...

    DSYSTEM (Entire Folder And Contents

    MK5_2Mbit_test_v5.nds

    MK5_PassMe.nds

    xmenu.dat

When you have these files THEN you can format by...

Please insert both cards in to the DS and power up, tap the screen to continue as you would for any normal game.

You will then come to the menu "USB Mode" and "Menu Mode"

Instead of selecting one please press and hold the "select button" on the DS then tap "start"

    Select "Quick Format"

Once complete restart the DS, you will have to tap the screen as above and this time select" USB MODE"

By formatting the menu file will have been deleted from internal
Memory and will need replacing with the files. downloaded from
    neoflash.com

    (MK5) v1.45

    DSYSTEM (Entire Folder And Contents

    MK5_2Mbit_test_v5.nds

    MK5_PassMe.nds

    xmenu.dat

(Drag and drop these files only)

Now your new system is ready, restart NDS and enjoy

Will fix almost all problems with DS Firecard and applies to both 8 and 16gbit.

  • Priya darshan Apr 12, 2008

download xmenu here (scroll down half the page)

    http://www.logictoys.co.uk/vmchk/Nintendo-DS/System-Enhancements/DS-Fire-Card-8Gbit.html

after that, restart the nds and if you have a screen that says something like need udisk version 1.45, you can download it here

Well when i put when i put my ncard in and turn on the ds it is just a blank screen saying error: xmenu.dat

Probably the xmenu.dat is deleted. Best way is to copy all the games (.nds files) and the log files (.sav files) to your computer, reformat the card and copy back the games from your pc to your card.

N card

listen,i'm confused on your question.but i'll still help.don't turn off your ds on and off.that may shorten the life, which means you'll spend more time charging then playing, also don't take out your game card while your ds is on.save your game,go to the main menu and turn it off.once it is off you can take the card out.if this is not helpful call the nintendo customor support center number 1-800-255-3700.
