You should not need to access the bios to reinstall the operating system.
Put your disc in the drive (I will assume Windows) then reboot the computer.
When the disc has been checked, it will ask you to press any key to boot from CD.
After that follow the information as it appears on screen.

Before you do this though, it's a good idea to backup onto cd any data, photos emails etc you want to keep.

Hope that helps =)

Won't accept my new password

Hi Grace Montemayor,

I will be glad to help you. If you are talking about a password for a mail or application you can click on "forgot my password" option which will help in retrieving password. If you are talking about a windows login password then the only option is to perform a complete operating system reinstall using the below link:
http://dell.to/1ax5CFD (For Windows 8 only)
If you have any other operating system do let me know.
If the password prompt appears before booting to windows then it could either be a Hard drive password or a BIOS password. You may contact your system manufacturer along with a copy of the password prompt. They will check and help you.

Thanks and Regards.

Old password does not work; need to reset password

Hi Rodney Thompson,

If it is the Windows password that you are talking about then there is no way to retrieve it. However, you may consider performing an operating system reinstallation which will take the computer back to factory state by using the below link:
http://dell.to/1cbragc for windows XP operating system only
http://dell.to/1iaXWvk for Windows 7 operating system only
http://dell.to/1fb3eZd for windows 8 using Dell Backup and recovery
Note: To backup data you may have to take the computer to a local technician.
However, if the password prompt appears before booting to windows it could either be a BIOS/ Hard drive password then you may contact your system manufacturer.
Thanks and Regards.

When i turn on my laptop it ask for a password in blue and then there is a blinking curser and black screen it wont do anything after that unless i press f2 reapeatedly or f12 but i cant fix nothing on the...

There are two types of password:
1. BIOS password. To remove the BIOS password, the solution is, remove the BIOS battery. Location of the BIOS battery, the bottom of the laptop. So you have to unscrew the bottom of the laptop, find the BIOS battery and release approximately 7 seconds, then plug it back. Then, turn on the laptop, enter the BIOS by pressing F2, do the setting the date, time, etc.

2. Password Log on. When turning on the laptop, and log on, then we are asked to enter a password, but we never give password to log on. However, when we enter the password, always fails, it means the virus-infected operating system (operating system has been controlled by a virus). These cases often I meet, the Windows XP operating system is infected with the virus. The solution is to reinstall the operating system. Repair operating system, or breaking into password virus, I've tried, but always failed. So, the best solution is to reinstall the operating system.

If you are using Windows 7, you can fix with, insert the Windows operating system CD, then boot from the CD Room. Solutions you can do:

1.
Boot from CD Room, select Next - select Repair your computer - Next - select System Image Recovery

2. Boot from CD Room - select Next - select Install now - check the "I accept the license terms" - Next - select Custom (advanced). Then, select the drive where you installed windows - Next. Wait for your operating system install process to complete. Then enter your user name, etc.

After entering the desktop, don't open drive C, D, E, F, because the drive is still infected with the virus. All you have to do is, connect your laptop to the Internet, download anti-virus. You can use free anti-virus (Avira or AVG), then anti-virus updates. After the update is complete, do a virus scan, drive C, D, E, F. If a virus is detected, Primary action = repair, Secondary action = delete.

After drive C, D, E, F clean from viruses, you can open the drive C, D, E, F. You don't have to worry about losing data, because Windows 7, will backup your data in a folder Windows.old. In Windows.old folder, there are three folders: Program files, Users, Windows. Data stored in My Documents, can be found in the Users folder.

Make sure you are pressing the right key to enter the bios normally this is the Del key. Some computers use the F1 key and others you have to press Shift+Crtl+Esc once you in the bios set your boot device to your CD Rom. Put in your operating system disk. Then save and restart your bios. This should allow you to reinstall the operating system. The NTLDR is the boot file for windows operating systems.

Hello i'm trying to get my bios password. trying to get into computer. I also do not have my admin password. what do i do.

Hi, If you donot have have your bios password then the simplest way is to reset the bios to default. it will remove all the password form the bios.
The simplest way is to flash the bios is that open the pc cabinate.
look on to motherboard for bios cell , it is a kind of round circular battery like the cell used in watch.
take this cell out carefully from its socket. Now check there you see the two pins in that socket that connect that cell to the motherboard. Just short that point using any twiser or any thing . keep it short and switch on the powersupply of your pc. The system will not start but keep this pin short for 45 - 60 sec. and then switch of the power supple.put that cell in socket again. carefully.
now close your cabinate and start your computer. You see that there is no password on the bios now.

You didn't say wheather the password was for the computer or Windows. 1. If the password is for the computer then you can change it in the BIOS by pressing F2 when the computer boots. This will take you into the BIOS. Here accros the top of the menu you should find a tab called security. Once opened you'll find where the password is entered or canncelled. 2. If it's in Windows you can reboot the computer with the Windows CD. You'l need to do an operating system reinstall. Once Windows asks if you want to install a new operating system continue from there. Two screens later Windows will ask if you want to reinstall the operating system to repair the present system. Reinstalling will delete all passwords.
