Installing Sharp Software for a OZ-590A

I'm running Microsoft Outlook / Office 2007 and am using my MS Outlook daily on my desktop.
Whenever I try to install the Sharp Sync sotware it tells me that Outlook is not installed or not setup. ????
I tried to search around in MS Outlook for some kind of setup procedure that would apply, but found nothing.
I appreciate any help you can provide.
Thank you,
Jim

MS Outlook is already installed in the desktop.
When I attempt to download the Sharp software to sync a message appears that Outlook is not installed in the desktop. ??

  • Ghost44 Apr 12, 2008

Outlook is already installed on my PC and has a lot of data, as I have been using it for a few months.
I'm trying to load the Sharp software disk on my PC in order to download (sync) the Outlook data from my PC (desktop) to the Sharp Wizard.
When I attempt to downlaod the Sharp software, the utilities downloads OK even to the point that it requests I plug in the USB cable and it confirms the port etc. However,a message also appears that the Sharp sync software cannot download because Outlook is either not installed or not set up on the PC.
Both of these message points confuse me because it is obviously installed and I belive set up as I am currently using the Outlook program on my PC.
I appreicate your patience with my explanations of the problem as I am a novice at these kind of problems.

HERE is the cause of the problem. Unfortunately, the Sharp Sync software is not compatible w/ Microsoft Outlook 2007.

That is why it is reporting that Outlook isn't installed. It doesn't recognize the newer version.

If your operating system is Vista, you will need the Vista drivers for the device as well. You can find them at the same link I provide above.

There are other 3rd party utilies that you can use other than the Sharp Sync software. If you'd like to explore those options, please, let us know and we'll be happy to help you.

Thank you for using FixYa

My apologies Ghost44. Did you post your additional comments b4 or after mine? Do you understand what the issue is? If not, I'll be happy to explain more clearly.

As a rule, software companies are only able to build in compatibility w/ software that was already in existance at the time they developed their own software. These software developers are typically unable to "build in", to their software, compatibility w/ "3rd party" software (software that is not manufacturerd by their company) which has not yet been developed. That is why your Sharp Sync software doesn't know that your Microsoft Outlook 2007 software is even a version of Microsoft Outlook. It doesn't know how to recognize that version of Outlook at all because that compatibility was not built into Sharp Sync when it was developed.

I hope this helps to explain a bit better. Feel free to ask more questions or to explore the possibility of using software other than Sharp Sync to synchronize your Microsoft Outlook 2007 data w/ your Sharp PDA.

    Thank you

    BJ @:)

    Hello Ghost44

While I'm sorry I had to report that Sharp Sync is not compatible w/ your PIM (personal information manager) "Microsoft Outlook 2007", I am pleased I was able to answer your question for you.

Hopefully there is some solace in knowing that the problem is one of compatibility and not something you were not doing or were doing incorrectly.

If you'd like to explore the possibility of using a different software program to sync Microsoft Outlook 2007 w/ your Sharp PDA, just post another problem and we'll be happy to assist you in finding one. (If you'd like my help specifically, just click my ASK ME button.) I haven't looked specifically for one that is compatible w/ a Sharp PDA but I'd be happy to if that is what you'dl like.

I've always used 3rd party software for my own PDAs (Palms). I've never used the software that comes w/ my PDAs (Palm Desktop) to sync w/ my PIM. I get a lot more functionality and control over the sync process when using a 3rd party utility.

Thank you v-e-r-y much for the FIXYA rating! :)

Please, come back anytime you need assistance w/ any of your computer equipment, gadgets or appliances. We're here to help.

    Have a beautiful day!

Hi,

You will need to install the outlook from the CD that came with your device. If no outlook is there in that then you will have to contact your manufacturer and get it done. That's the only solution to fix your problem.

Goodluck,
Please don't forget to rrate the solution.

I TRIED ABOUT 10 TIMES TO DOWNLOAD MICROSOFT OUTLOOK ORDER # 11160568 AND WHEN ABOUT TO BE COMPLETE THE DOWNLOAD FAILS DUE TO AN ERROR. PLEASE HELP ME

Hi

You do not say where you are downloading from or if you have paid for the download.

Genuine, licenced, MS Office Outlook is not available as a free download.

Either the source of your download is not a genuine, reputable one or there may be a corruption in the Office Outlook files installed on your computer causing an incomplete or corrupted download.

Start > Control Panel > (Add or Remove Programs) Programs > Uninstall a program > highlight MS Outlook > Remove all components of MS Outlook > Close > Restart computer > Download again (from a reputable source).

MS Outlook is no longer available as a download from Microsoft, see here:

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook-help/results.aspx?filter=5&qu=download&av=zol120

If you insist on using Outlook 2007, you will probably have to buy the software, or pay to download it from a reputable site, such as:

http://download.cnet.com/Microsoft-Office-Outlook-2007/3000-2367_4-15311.html

If you want to download from Microsoft, it will have to be MS Outlook 2010 from here:

http://emea.microsoftstore.com/UK/en-GB/Microsoft/Outlook-2010

I hope this helps.

MS Outlook is part of the MS Office Suite and is not Outlook Express. Your device may not be disigned to Sync with Outlook Express as the program not have a Calendar function.

You can download a Trial of Outlook from Microsoft at http://us20.office2010beta.microsoft.com/default.aspx

Your device can store the Addresses to the memory of the device itself. See manual here: http://www.sharpusa.com/downloads/archives/product_manuals/org_man_OZ590A.pdf

    Sharp Organizer problems

    Brandonp,
I will suggest finding a copy of Microsoft Office (that's the only way I am sure of obtaining Outlook) as it contains Outlook. If you can use Outlook Express for your purpose? Then you can download that for free, but since Microsoft ** longer supports 98SE, I am **t sure you will be able to get it via Microsoft/Windows Update as XP and Vista users can. If Microsoft.com fails to let you download Outlook Express, let us k**w and I or one of the other Fixya Team members will provide a link for it's download.
Keep us posted, and Good Luck.
