Check for cracks in the driver circuit, also i believe this maybe on of the models that had a kit that helped from driving the h-output to hard causing it to get hotter then normal.

Sony KV36FS16 36" Timer/Standby light blinks 9 times.

A common cause is the fly-back transformer and HV multiplier assembly requires replacement. In some cases, but more rare, there may be a failure in the vertical amplifier output stage. There are some other support components that can cause this as well.

In some cases, if the CRT has a short it can damage the horizontal output stage area.

After replacing, the horizontal output transistor and its support components must be verified. Also, this type of failure will sometimes cause some failures in the main power supply.

An experienced tech who knows your model of set can verify the cause of failure, and replace the necessary parts. Take care that this type of service may be expensive.

51H93 HORIZONTAL OUTPUT TRANSISTOR FAILURE

What's the question???

If the transistor has failed, it has to be replaced. The cause must be found and fixed before applying back the power, or the new replacement will probably soon fail.

Horizontal output transistor failure

check b+ comming from p/s. also check for blue flat caps in line with h-output circuit. if blown out the side. remove them from circuit. also might have a HVT goin bad. I believe this is also the model that might have a mod for h-out running too hott that requires adding a resister in the h-drive circuit. also try a heavier duty h-output.

Will not power up

your problem is in flyback or high voltage section failure.

  • check horizontal output transistor
  • check fly back transformer.
  • check for supply to horizontal section as high voltage from power supply may create such problem
  • as this failure is due high voltage section so it is better to take skilled technician help.
  • good luck.
