My EPoX 4PDA5 has 2 512mb ddr ram's, I was wondering if i could replace them with 1gb ddr2 or ddr3 without changing the motherboard, or would i be able to get 2 1gb DDR's and still use the 512's? because...

From http://www.motherboard.cz/mb/epox/EP-4PDA5.htm:

4 DDR modules for DDR 333/400 dual channel architecture

If you have 4 ram slots and only 2 are filled, you just need to match the speed of the two you currently have, they can be any size(500mb, 1gb, etc). I'm not sure you'll be able to find DDR ram anymore though.. and NO you cannot use DDR2 ram.

yeah some hardware designers do that. Unfortunately, if you want that computer to work correctly you will have to buy the necessary drivers. You can try other dodgier routes like finding someone who has the same computer, but this is a) hard, and b) generally not a good idea, particularly if you get them off the internet.
