My printer, an HP Photosmart C6280 AIO worked fine for a time then went haywire! First it wouldn't print photos. Then it uninstalled itself. We fixed that. Now it won't scan. I keep getting a message that there is a fatal error in installation although it is installed. I was on the phone on three separate occasions with HP techs who uninstalled and reinstalled the printer then told me the problem was my USB cable although I can now print photos and letters. I just can't scan.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

How do i scan a document to computer

We need to install the printer Software on the computer.
If you have the CD that came with the printer you can do it from there or you can download it from the following links depending on your operating system:

Windows Vista:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=mp-61479-4&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&os=2093&product=3575276

Windows XP:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=mp-61479-4&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=3575276&os=228&lang=en

After you install the software open HP SOLUTION CENTER..
you will find the scan options over there..
click on either scan document
you will get the option to save it onto your computer..
once the scan is done you can view it.
the scanned document gets saved under My Documents under the folder My Scans.
it is really easy, trust me :)

plz rate if you find it helpful. THANK YOU

Unable to scan a doucument onto my computer

Assuming you HAVE installed the software, and you're running Windows XP, I've seen this problem and the solution is on the HP Web Site here:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&custom_solutionid=rb20020000&docname=c01545804

Obviously you'll have to paste the link all back together in your browser, there are no blanks in it. Sorry for the inconvenience. Their description is bad for XP firewall, ignore the UDP 427 Inbound. HP doesn't know they are all bidirectional anyway :)

Trying to scan document on HP Deskjet F4200 all in one series. When scanning small document from TIFF Image this is scanning through as 25.5 MB so I am unable to send this as an attachement to an email as...

Try lowering your scan resolution settings. Magazine quality is 300dpi. If you don't want to lose too much quality, open the file is a image editor and crop only the area you wish to send.

Unable to scan

Make sure you have microsoft word installed i you computer.
But if you want to scan a document you can also scan it to HP Document Viewer.

First open solution center/HP Director and try to scan from document> then in the optin which says where do you want to send the scanned image> click on the drop down and check to see yu have the option of word> if yes select the option of word and try to scan.

If not Open HP Solution center/HP Director and go to settings> Scan settings> Scan to setup> Go to> Destination List> And click on Restore defaults and check to see if you have the option of word in the availabe list and front panel destination list> then click on apply ad ok and close all the windows and then try and check to see if you get the option of scan to word.
