Connect the projector to an external amplifier and speakers.
The speaker system built in is designed for watching movies etc in a small quiet room.

Hope that helps =)

Dvd10 optoma projector makes a loud noise

Hi, I'm not sure if it's the same problem I had..
I had it on picture mute, for maybe 15 mins, which may not have been a good idea. While it was muted, it made a sparking sound, and then a very loud grinding noise. When turned off, the lound noise stops, and the fan continues as usual for about a minute. As soon as it's turned back on, the grinding noise is back. But the logo seemed to display ok.

I took it in for repairs, and they said they needed to replace the color wheel to fix the problem.

Loud Fan Noise

Fan operation is quite audible, native resolution of just 480p The Final Word
A perfect coffee table companion Notes

The DV10 has a futuristic-looking outer casing and two internal speakers located behind a silver grille mesh at the rear. Heat is removed through its side ventilation and the internal fan has a noise level of 27dB, which is comparable to a loud computer and quite distracting when watching movies at low volume. At 368 x 117 x 273mm, the unit is small enough to permanently and inconspicuously reside on a coffee table.

this is from a review .

it sounds like that the fan needs to be cleaned the sound you hear is normal but if it sounds like its racein the moder might be on its way out if you have a can of air used to clean a key bored i would try to clean it out with that if not take it to a repair place to see if they could look at the moder

Vibration noise on optima Projectro/DVD unit

Hi mstadisasta

This is a faulty colourwheel that will have to be replaced as a colourwheel cannot be repaired.

It is quite easy to replace and I would suggest you to do it yourself if this unit is no longer under warranty.
All you'll have to do is get your hands on the new colourwheel from your local or nearest retailer.

Thanks for using Fixya !

External speakers

I would bypass the speakers from the projector and connect the audio output from the DVD to a sorround sound system or to computer speakers.

I had a similar sounding problem. When I opened it up I found that the segmented color wheel was missing the clear segment of glass. I have not been successful finding parts for it.
