Dear all,
I installed a new videocard on my Windows ME computer, and the card
itself works fine. However, shutting down the system does not work any
longer: things start to close fine, but at the moment the screen goes
blank, the system seems to hang. I can see a cursor blinking, but no
further reaction.
If I now manually power down the system, when starting up again a 'check
disk' is started (does not find any problems; however indicated Windows
ME was not shut down decently).
When I choose to restart instead of shutting down, there are no
problems, restarting goes smoothly. I now use this to shut down; hitting
the main switch as soon as the reset screen appears. Primitive, but works.
Anyone an idea how to solve this shut down issue?
Videocard is an ASUS N6600LE (NVidia chip set), AGP 8x version.
TIA, Kees.
