I need to troubleshoot why my 7310 scanner is failing. I replaced the motor assembly. My only concern at this point is if I am connecting the brown wire correctly on the back top of the machine. There is one prong sticking out, the only thing I can see which MIGHT be connected to the borwn wire. And now that the motor assembly is replaced, I no longer hear the whirring of a motor when the scanner fails...however I do see a message after a series of what sounds like printer cleaning that says "scanner failure". Where am I going wrong?

Hi, this is a followup on our chat session. (2007nfm), no extra wire is indicated on the scanners wiring harness. it plugs in socket well. ignore the brown wire and do the following first.
Unplug the power cable from printer when the printer is powered on and wait for about 30 seconds. then, press and hold # and 6 while plugging in the power cord and Continue holding until it displays Semi Full Reset message in the front panel of the 7310 . after try to scan and see if scanner failure appears again.
if it does, like i had told you,
lubricate the rod that the scanner slides on with a few drops of Tri-Flow.

please post back here for a followup.

Regards

You should know ofcourse where the right points are sometimes there is a little connection diagram on the switch self but not large enough to see or letters on the connectionpoints L and N phase (brown wire) and zero (blue wire) from the motor and electronic assembly if the switch have only 2 contacts then connect blue wire direct to blue wire and brown to brown OVER the switch.

I need the wiring diagram to replace the condensing fan.some one has already removed it is my problem

Changes are the wiring color to a new fan motor are not going to be the same as the old fan motor. On the new motor there should be black, white, brown & brown with a white stripe. The black and white (or the two that are not brown) go to the contactor points L1 & L2 OR one goes on the left and one on right of the leaving points of the line voltage connections. It does not matter what black or white on which side (black goes on left normally). The two browns (1 with white and 1 plain brown) go to the NEW capacitor. Again doesn't made which side as long as they are on their own terminal not on the same side. Colors may be different depending on motor but the colors are usually blk, what and 2 brn

52.00 error is a "scanner motor" problem.
Replace the scanner motor 1st, 2nd replace the DC Controller.

If you are not a printer tech, you will need one.

When you turn on washer it says f13

HI. This code is in reference to the dispenser circuit. If the dispenser motor is not able to be driven to it’s proper position, the F-13 code will appear. The necessary actions are to Check the mechanical linkage from the dispenser motor to the top of the dispenser assembly. You will also need to inspect the wire Harness connections to the dispenser motor and Central Control Unit (CCU). Make sure that these connections are tight and secure. The last area of concern will be to check the motor that is located and mounted on the dispenser assembly. The possible culprit will usually be a failed motor, but you will need to inspect all that I have stated to isolate the motor. Make sure that the linkages are ok and the wire harness is securely connected to their respective connection points.

Here is a link to the service manual for this unit. This manual will guide you through the disassembling process and it will have a proper testing chart for the dispenser motor circuit, as well. I would suggest to read the dispenser details at the bottom of page 3-1. The title will be "Dispenser Distribution System". This will familiarize you with the dispecner assembly and its parts. Read the entire summary before starting your inspection procedure and repair. The summary will end on page 3-2. The dispecer can be easily accessed y removing the top. The top removal procedure will start at the top page 4-2.

HP 7310 Cartrige Belt Repair

The right end is connected with an idle pulley on a spring. If you grab the left end and pull it to the left, the spring will strech. This will help to attach the belt to the carriage motor on the left.
In some printers the spring streching is fixed by screw that have to be loosen first.
If you can't reach the motor's weel on the left, you have to take off some parts first.

Thank you SO much! I was able to disassemble and reassemble just as you indicated. However, now I don't hear the whirring of the motor assembly, it just pops up scanner failure. IT feeds through the top...

Failed to operate had E010. AND I REPLACE IT THE MAIN MOTOR WITH THE MAIN MOTOR OF 6045 IS THIS OK.. and can i have a service manual for free

Hi. have you reset the copier first? I've seen this code come up with brown out senarios more than once. Also check the fuser assembly, the lower and upper fuser bearings do fail quite often and this is enough to slow the motor down to the point of generating this error code. Just give the fuser a turn by hand, if it's really tight then there is a bearing that has seized and needs replacing. Main motors rarely fail.

Every time I turn on my officejet 7310 printer a warning comes up saying scanner failure. I cannot do anything with it. I uninstalled it & reinstalled it but with no luck getting it to work> ...

Sometimes you can clean the scanner optics and get a little more life from it, but it involves taking the glass off the top and cleaning the scan unit mirrors and lenses. When that doesn't work you need to locate a new scan assembly, last check, around $150.00

HP OfficeJet 7310 - scanner stopped working

Do these tests. Try coping form the glass and ADF tray. If it works from the glass and not the ADF tray then you have a bad scanner motor assembly.
