Phillips 42" plasma power problem

I have a 2 year old phillips 42" plasma.
The power supply board went bad 3 weeks after warranty.
Now, a year later, the power relay only clicks on for a second and back off. Is it even worth trying to fix or should I just throw it out?

Red light blinks 4 times and wont come on

I just went though this problem. My Philips LCD decided not to turn on the other morning.
Here is the problem.
Capacitors. Turns out Phillips and many other manufactures of electronic equipment bought bad capacitors. They go bad in 2-5 years instead of lasting decades because of a lack of preservative. The TV appears to work fine and then right after the warranty is up, it dies.
Here are your solutions.
1. Take it in, and have it fixed
2. Buy a new Power Supply Board
3. Remove the PSB and replace bulging of burst Capacitors.

I removed my board and replaced the bad capacitors. 2 hours and some soldering later I had it fixed.

Good luck

My 42 lcd phillips tv colur turns red and zig zag lines then turns itself off why is it doing this

You are not the only one I can tell you that. I had a similar problem with my Phillips 42 in. LCD HD TV.

Here's the problem. The Power Supply Board. I opened my TV up(warranty was up of course) and found several bad capacitors. Phillips and several other companies were sold capacitors that although were highly rated failed within 5 years because of a lack of preservatives. All sorts of electronic equipment is now being effected due to these defective capacitors.
Solutions?
1. Take it in and have it fixed
2. Open it up, check the board for faulty capacitors(bulged or leaking) Buy a new Power supply board and install it.
3. Remove PSB, remove faulty capacitors and replace with compatible new ones.

Hope this helps

Having problems turning on 2 year old Phillips

Philips TVs tend to have issues with bad capacitors in their power supplies. Failing capacitors tend to have slightly different ESR (equivalent series resistance) values when they have been left off, versus after they are warmed up and charged up. Either a new power supply board or replacement of the faulty capacitors will fix the problem.

Your powerboard is damaged, and need to be replaced.

Sometimes it appear the TV is working again with no problem but it is only a matter of time for the board to get completely damaged.

Phillips 42" LCD Mod#42PF722OA/37

This problem is related to two failures, one is the Power Supply Board, another one is the Y-Main Board. Troubleshoot procedures:

1. Disconnect the Vs Power Supply cable from the Power Supply Board,
2. Turn on the tv and check the Vs voltage on Power Supply Board,
3. If the Vs voltage is there, then the Y-Main board failed.
4. If the Vs is not there, then the Power Supply Board failed.
