I can transfer my video8 tapes using EasyCAP to my pc but I can't seem to copy them on to dvd. Can you advise me what settings to use please? I am using blank discs (DVD + RW). First erase the DVD and then try...
you can erase DVD by right clicking the drive in my computer and selecting "ERASE DVDRW"
then you try to write onto the DVD-RW

MKV to DV Converter for Mac

As we know, the Matroska Multimedia Container is free container format that can hold an unlimited number of video, audio, picture or subtitle tracks inside a single file. It is intended to serve as a universal format for storing common multimedia content, like movies or TV shows. Matroska is similar in concept to other containers like AVI, but is entirely open in specification, with implementations consisting mostly of open source software. Matroska file types are .MKV for video (with subtitles and audio), .MKA for audio-only files and .MKS for subtitles only.

DV is a format for recording and playing back digital video, in its smaller tape form factor MiniDV, has since become a standard for home and semi-professional video production; it is sometimes used for professional purposes as well, such as filmmaking and electronic news gathering (ENG). The DV specification defines both the codec and the tape format.

DV features good video quality, especially compared to earlier consumer analog formats such as Video8, Hi8 and VHS-C. DV now enables filmmakers to produce movies inexpensively, and is strongly associated with independent film and citizen journalism.

If you want to playback MKV files on your Powermac, you will find that MKV videos cannot be seen in imovie or idvd for mac. But don’t worry about that, Mac MKV to DV Converter can offer you to convert MKV to DV easily, and allow you to edit MKV files with its powerful editting function, for example, clipping MKV videos, merging several MKV files, setting size of video frame by cropping.

My roxio creator 2010 converts tivo to dvd so slow - a 103 minute movie took 7 hours to convert and burn to disc and the picture is **** but the audio is fine. i also can't seem to trim any tivo recordings...

I like burning tivo to DVD with windows DVD maker. I use Pavtube for coverting TiVo videos . It works very well and I haven't really had any problems. Conversion speed seems fine and the videos look good. I saw Pavtube mentioned in the TiVo forums as a good way to convert for the iPad so I decided to try it. It's much better than TiVo's converter. http://www.pavtube.com/guide/copy-tivo-to-dvd.html

I have files in my dvd player but can`t transfer to dvd-r thanks

Nero 6 cannot copy them directly. You will have to move them yourself  - either by simply copy-paste them or by ripping the disk -  to the hard disk and from there burn the to a new disk.

The Program converts the DVD find, but when I insert the disc to be copied I get an Unable to Burn the data to DVD+-R(W): VideoDVD Error: 0x7000004 - VideoTSVobSize

Hey! If you want to copy your DVD to another DVD disc, you need DVD Copy software to make backup of DVD. You can give a shot of this Wondershare DVD Copy which is very easy-to-use. Here is the detailed info about this DVD Copy.

I'm trying to transfer movie to computer hard drive using 123 copy dvd

Simple. When you copy the dvd, you do as usual as if you were going to copy it to another disc. Then when it asks you to insert the new disc to copy to, click abort. It will then ask you if you really want to abort, then you click yes. Then it will ask you if you want to clear the data you have just created. Click NO. Then you can find the .vob file in The Copy 123 Temp folder. This folder is always created for optical storage. It's what holds the movie until you write it to a disc. Hope this helps. Cheers.
