Service Code F84:

These codes may be triggered by either excessive heat within the oven or poor grounding of either the temp sensor or the controller (DPU) board. Check the following:
a) Clogged air filter (not applicable to OCS models)
b) Obstruction of the exhaust duct or insufficient ventilation
c) Defective thermal sensor (should read 30 – 70 kohm in room temperature)
d) Grounding of the thermal sensor (possible oxidation)
e) Poor connection (oxidation) at CN4 connector (PRO-1 models only)
f) Poor or no ground at the controller (DPU) board – ensure that all screws securing the board are in place
g) Missing screw(s) that secure the escutcheon to the frame (OCS models only)
h) If all steps above check OK, the error(s) may be caused by defective controller (DPU) board

We have code F84 coming up on our Electrolux microwave, wall oven. Seems to be affecting the microwave. Any ideas what might be going on?

The F84 code is a communication error between the user interface panel of the microwave and the main control board. This could be the result of a problem with the touch panel's interface board, the main control board or the wiring between them. (The wiring harness can come loose or have a bit of corrosion at the connectors.) The usual recommendation is to check the wiring at the interface board then replace the interface board first. If that doesn't solve the problem, you have to replace the control panel.

How do I replace the light in my Panasonic nn797s?

Remove the case and replace the lamp located between the magnetron tube and the control panel. If I remember correctly there is one phillip screw holding the base to the oven.

It appears you have a bad batch in that group, take it back and let them deal with this, and I would consider taking your money back or go with a different brand and model.

I have an panasonic inverter microwave the bulb went then the turn table stopped turning I have changed the bulb now the turn table turns all the time but the light still does not work any ideas?

It seems that the fault is relative of the program controller board or the processor subsection outputs. If there is display and you are able to adjust then the processor is working but if not this is confirmed. Also if the turntable runs all the time there is a continuous short in the output and the magnetron must also be checked to see if this is opwered or else it is not safe to work on-- please be extremely careful as a cross link within board can power the magnetron which can produce microwaves.
If so the contoller board is the suspect.

When turned off after cooling for 5hr. The outside unit buzzers as if a motor is running. it has gone on for 3hr. if I turn the unit back on it works OK just the outside unit seems to keep going.the out...

Do you mean after cooking for 5 hours? If so, yes. This is normal behavior. The microwave is running an internal fan to cool the components inside of the microwave. The fact that it has done so for 3 hours is a bit strange, but I doubt there is any issue with the inverter. Watch for errors. Error F33 or F34 mean an excessive heat build up in the microwave. Errors F81, F82, F83 and F84 mean that there is an issue with power delivery, such as inverter failure. While F86, F87, F88 and F89 represent shorted contacts within the microwave's boards and power supply.

I have a Panasonic combination oven NN A554w bought new just over a year ago.A month after purchase it went back to Currys due to a door fault.Yesterday the same fault occured and because it is out of...

This is a really common problem with all models which use the same door assembly.My first one failed after three months and was repaired by Panasonic under warranty. It failed again just after the warranty expired and the company were not interested in helping so I took the door apart to see what's wrong. (Remove outer oven casing, undo hinge plates from oven body and withdraw door. Unclip inner brown/black plastic seal, and then unscrew and remove metal shielding and door glass).

Basically, there's a design fault. A really weedy and poorly designed plastic post is the anchor point for a strong door spring catch, and the post is part of the inner door casing moulding. The plastic itself is not amenable to being glued and where the post breaks there is too little area for glue to have much effect even if it could work. The plastic is an ABS type of material and this is well known for being difficult to use glue with.

At first, I shelled out for a new outer door casing from a parts supplier, when it arrived I was really disappointed to see that the design was unmodified. As expected the door failed a few months later despite being careful to always gently close the door.

I went back to my old door and after a few experiments I temporarily glued the post with superglue just to hold it in place, and then I packed carefully around it with two part car body filler, ensuring that it would not foul other components when the door was reassembled. In the end, I still had to carve away some filler afterwards to enable reassembly.

A year later and it's still working, but the stress point has now been transferred to the outer door casing where the top of the post engages into a moulded anchorage. This is now cracking showing that this is also under-engineered and that the door spring is far too strong. The inner microwave seals are fine though, but it clearly indicates a really poor design.

Since then, my parents Panasonic has had the same fault (a different model but using the same door) as have a couple of friends and neighbours. Some have had warranty repairs, a few have been binned and replaced with a different brand and I've repaired some. It's a real shame as the basic ovens are very good, just this **** door lets everything down and despite loads of internet reports of a problem the company won't admit there's an issue.

I don't advocate this at all, but one neighbour was so angry with Panasonic's attitude after his second (one month out of warranty) failure that he went and bought the exact same model new. He then dismantled and thoroughly cleaned his broken door, reassembled it and switched it onto the new oven and returned the new one to the store the same afternoon for a full refund, claiming the door broke as soon as he used it. He's used the same trick twice since and has stuck with this model as there are no others on sale in the UK with the same specifications and dimensions. I do not condone his actions as they're fraudulent, but I do understand why he's done so.

Replace the bulb in Panasonic microvave Model nn s 768ba

Hi all,

I have just replaced the bulb in my Panasonic NNA873 Dimension 4.

Please be careful,although it was an easy job, there is a capacitor inside which stores heavy loads of power and will release the electricity into you if you touch it!


To replace bulb will take 5 minutes.

UNPLUG microwave. Remove the outer cover by unscrewing about 6 screws (ordinary phillips) don't lose them into the workings.......

Bulb is located on the right side, nearer to the front. You cannot see the glass of the bulb, only the black plastic end piece, as the bulb sits upside down and vertically. Best if you check out what a T170 looks like on the internet, then you will know what you are looking for. For my Panasonic I needed a T170 (but be careful, they have different ends, some are straight, some right angled - mine was right angled - check before you buy and no, I don't think you can get them from any ordinary supermarket etc!!). Do not touch the bulb when replacing as the oil on your fingers will shorten its life.

Old bulb can be removed by taking out one screw and then pulling off the connectors - there is a little tab to push down to ease them off.

Then simply replace bulb!

When putting cover back on make sure all the tabs on top and sides go inside not outside casing.

Good luck. This is an easy job, just don't poke around anywhere else.

Panasonic Inverter NN-V673S microwave- shuts off after 2-30 secs

If the screen is showing a fault number or a number you havent seen before then its probably a program fault which can't be fixed. Check that the vent holes on the back of the oven aren't dirty and ensure that the whole oven is clean inside. Sadly it sounds like a program fault which cant usually be fixed by the owner though.
Finding a Panasonic oven repairer in the UK shouldnt be a problem though. My parents had a simlar problem wth their Panasonic Inverter oven, called the UK customer services and Panasonic contacted an authorised repairer in Scotland to visit them. Call customer services on 0844 844 3868.
If the call out charge exceeds £80 then you're probably better off buying a new oven.
