The clicking noise is the starter, the solenoid isn't kicking the bendix out to turn the starter. When the power goes to the solenoid it only clicks trying to boost the starter over. Try having this checked out before messing with the security system.

Clicking noise wont start

Sounds like a weak solenoid on the starter. Probably needs starter replacement. Those cars need a mechanic to work on them.

Hi,
Sounds like a bad starter relay. When you turn your key to start, current flows through a relay which in turns supplies 12 volts to the solenoid on your starter motor. As you alluded to , typically the common clicking sound that we all hear occasionally, is usually related to a flat battery or bad starter motor, but as you have had these checked (by a professional?) the only possibility is the relay that supplies 12 volts DC to your starter motor solenoid.
Thought you might find this interesting to help you understand ignition systems:

Clicking noise when car starts

The clicking noise is from the solenoid. If the battery is weak, then there is not enough current to make the starter turn. Therefore it is not necessary the starter is a problem. One of my experience is that the contact inside the solenoid can be rusty, corroded so there is not enough current flowing to the starter to make it work. The easy way to find out is to charge up the battery, or to have a jump start to see if the starter turns. If it turns then the problem with the battery. If with a new battery and still needing a jump start then the problem is the solenoid contacts, hence the solenoid needs to be replaced.

Will not start, new battery 3 months ago. think

it could be starter or altinator
try another battery if it starts with that its your altinator
if it was your starter it would make a clicking or whiring noise when you try to start it.

How do headlight shine? (hard to tell in sunshine)

How does horn sound? Weak battery usually means a sick horn.

Can you jump start the vehicle? If so, then it is the battery/alternator, drive it to a auto parts store, most will check out the system for free.

If not the battery, and you here a clicking noise from around the starter area, likely is the starter or the solenoid for the starter.

While starting my car I hear click- click- clicking noise then the car starts up.Now it will not start! I think it may be the starter! How do I troubleshoot this? PAUL Thank you!

sounds like the starter. you can check by using a jumper wire from the positive battery termanal to the positive starter nut { just follow the pos. wire from battey to starter}. if you take the starter out many autostores will check it for free.

Starter Relay?

if the starter turns the engine then your starter system is working properly, i would start by checking all of the fuses both under the hood and in the interior panel as well if all is well, then check for spark and fuel
