Ok firstly if you have a stand mixer with the lift bowl you have to put a dime on the side of the bowl at the base and see how much clearence is needed to be taken away. if the dime gets moved the mixer is ok. if not take off the flat beater, take out the bowl, and look at the back of the stand. just below the motor about 2 inches you will see a screw. turn it to the left a quarter of a turn. dont over adjust do it slowly. if you have the one that you tilt the head back on do the same thing with the screw up to you get to the adjusting part. the screw will be in a different spot on those mixers. it is located in the neck of the mixer. it is right in the area that tilts back. the dime shouldnt fly around the bowl it should just gently get tapped. and never use the wisk when adjusting always use the flat attachment. and always adjust slowly never over adjust.

forgot to mention the tilt back type you have to turn the screw to the right not to the left like you do on the bowl lift type.

The beater to bowl screw is locked in position and cannot be adjusted. flat beater and whisk hit bottom

Without looking at it myself I can' think what the problem would be but a cheating solution would be to undo the 4 screws that hold the pedestal to the motor housing and put 4 washers there between the pedestal and motor housing and replace the screws.I assume you mean the flat paddle beater because that's the only one to use to set the bowl height.

Head does not lock but when adjusted whisk touches bowl

The screw is purely for adjusting the head height and that is with the flat paddle. If the head is not locking when the paddle is at the correct height then the locking mechanism needs to be adjusted. If you take it to a Kitchen Aid authorised service person they will sort it for you, they will have done heaps of them. Often the solution is with a file, if you go too far there is no going back so best left to the experts.

I need to raise the head of the mixer. The wire whip is hitting hard the button

Hi LEDAVETTORI, you don’t provide the model number or say if you have a ‘tilt-head’ or a ‘bowl-lift' mixer, which would helpful, but you can easily download a PDF version of your Owners Manual from the KA website at: (http://www.kitchenaid.com/flash.cmd?/#/page/home).
Click on Customer Care>Locate Manuals& Guides> and enter the 6 character model number and select a file listed under Owners Manuals and save that file to your PC. You’ll need to have Adobe Reader to be able to open it. Turn to Page 11 and you will find the instructions for adjusting the mixer head height. I have extracted the instructions below:
Beater to Bowl Clearance
Your mixer is adjusted at the factory so that the flat beater just clears the bottom of the bowl. If for any reason, the flat beater hits the bottom of the bowl or is too far away from the bowl, clearance.
Tilt-Head models
• Unplug mixer.
• Lift motor head.

• Turn screw (A) SLIGHTLY counter clockwise (left) to raise flat beater or clockwise (right) to lower flat beater.
• Make adjustment with flat beater, so it just clears surface of bowl.
If you over adjust the screw, the bowl lock lever may not lock into place.

Bowl-Lift models
• Unplug mixer.
• Place bowl lift handle in down position.

• Turn screw (B) SLIGHTLY counter clockwise (left) to raise flat beater and clockwise (right) to lower flat beater. •Make adjustments with flat beater, so it just clears surface of bowl.
If you find the adjustment screw missing, you’ll need to replace it. But now you’ll need

What screw do i turn on the standkitchenaid to lower the beaters?

Hi. You can adjust the clearance by turning the adjustment screw counterclockwise. This screw will only turn 90 degrees either way so dont try to force it any further than that. This adjustment dosen't lower the beater, it raises the bowl a bit.

With the bowl-lift in the low position, you'll see a screw on the column of the mixer facing toward the front. This is the adjustment screw. Use the flat beater to check the clearance.

If this solution has assisted you, please rate it. Good luck! ricardok45

Kitchenaid Classic -Mixer Head wobbles or shakes back and forth

Lay the mixer on its side and look up through the base. You willnotice a small set screw. This holds the pin tight. If the set screw gets loose the pin willl begin to move out and the head will wobble. Simply tighten the set screw. I just did this to my Kitchenaid mixer 10 minutes ago and it now works fine.

Head tilting problem

OK,Where the mixer pivots there is an ajustment screw ( Flat head). Place a dime at the bottom of the bowl and make your adjustment carefully ( quarter turn at a time).Using the low speed only, adjust until the tip of the flat beater barely touches the dime. When your done, you'll be back in business.
