Question about MP3 & Digital Media Players

I dropped my HDD6320 philips mp3 player and it registered as having no songs on it, but when I synchronized it with my pc they are all on it. I want to clean it completely and reinstall all the music. How do I do this? Thanks, Spen

Sounds like the file list is corrupt on the player. This means that the player ignores the files, because it doesn't scan the drive on start up, it only reads the file list.

Formatting the HDD6320 is straight forward:

Install and run the Philips Device Manager software from the product CD. The software is only compatible with Windows XP.

Connect the player, and wait for Device Manager to recognise it.

Select the Repair / Restore option and follow the on-screen prompts.

This will format the player and re-load the system files.

Need to register my Philips MP3 SA3020/SA3021


You can call Philips and register the product with them.
This GoGear is not compatible with iTunes.
You will need to use a converter like Media Monkey to convert those iTunes songs (AAC) format into mp3 format (but it will only convert the unprotected songs).

Then you can use Windows Media Player to transfer the songs to your GoGear.

Wont sync


That model doesn't register with me - is it outside the US? At any rate, the newer Philips player do not support synchronization through Windows Media Player in some cases. You will have to drag and drop the files directly through Windows Explorer.

How do I create playlists?


The manual, etc is available at www.p4c.philips.com

You will have to, unfortunately, set up your Windows Media Player for Auto-Sync (has definite drawbacks - inclduing: adding songs, pictures, etc that you DON'T want into the GoGear). Playlists can only be synchronized to your player via “auto sync”. Autosync will automatically synchronize your Windows Media Player library content and your player content each time you connect your Player to the PC. If you use the “manual” sync option the tracks in the playlist will transfer to your player but the playlist itself will not.

Get the firmware upgrade for the player, and make sure the songs are in the correct format - mp3 format is best

Actually a HDD6320


The HDD6320 is not compatible with Windows Media Player 11.
You will need to uninstall Media Player 11, to roll back to version 10.

Also, it is not compatible with Windows Vista.

If you haven't already, install the Philips Device Manager from the product CD.

Connect the HDD6320 to the mains and PC.

Select the repair/restore option and follow the on-screen prompts.

If the HDD6320 is still not recognised, let me know if the player shows the connection icon on-screen, and I'll try to help further.

Why is it like this?!!!!!!!!!


You have automatic synchronization set up, and you will want to disable it (set up manual synchronization) in order to prevent this problem from occurring in the future.
Connect your Go Gear to the computer
Open Windows Media Player
Highlight the Sync Tab
Click on the little black arrow and pull down the drop down menu
Click on Set Up Sync
Uncheck the box that says "Automatically synchronzie the device..."

Songs not synchronizing


Are the songs in either .MP3 or .WMA format? If not, you will have to convert them before syncing.

Otherwise, are you getting any error messages when you sync? What do they say?
Are you using Windows Media Player to sync?
