I Have ASUS P5RD1-VM series motherboard of which the LAN driver is being missing all the time. Pls. anybody help me. Regards Sachin

Open Advanced while in the bios. Than open Southbridge configuration.
Please check bios for Onboard LAN Page 2-24 in you're manual. Set this to [Enabled]
If you do not have this enabled the LAN controller will not function.
Once enabled in bios save and exit the bios menu.
Open windows update when you're system reloads.
Click the custom button when windows update open’s.
Windows update service will scan you're system and will see you're LAN is enabled.
Windows will list drivers for you're on-board built-in LAN controller.
Or you can use the Asus CD to install the LAN controller software.
If you're LAN controller does not function you may need to add a PCI eithernet card.

Good luck!
Mike

Is not establishing connection to modem

cause the connection to teh modem its made by the tcp/ip protocol ...put into get an ip address automatically ..so it can not be a issue of a wrong ip or so ....the issue it is either with the modem ...and this can be solved by runing again the cd that you have from the internet provider.....or it is cause you do not have the right Lan driver installed..and this can be solved by inserting he motherboard drivers cd and choose lan driver from the list and install...after finish installing again the lan driver ..open the internet connection ..choose properties...than tcp/ip from the list ...with double click ...and on the configuration choose get and ip address automatically ...aply ..and ok ...you should have a connection in this moment..

Acer aspire 9410, cannot connect to the internet using dial-up

You have two different devices here. A modem and a wireless network adapter. Two totally different devices. It sounds like the modem quit working but the wireless network adapter still functions. I'm assuming that the modem is built it. If you absolutely have to have it you could buy a PCMCIA modem if your laptop has a PCMCIA slot to plug it into. You could also have a corrupted modem driver.

Will not reconize ethernet cable

Please ensure the following:

1. Make sure you use the LAN port.
2. Ensure the cable is in good condition. Try using new cable.
3. Ensure you installed proper network card driver.
4. Ensure the network card using correct link speed (100Mbps).
5. Try switching the link speed to Auto, if you're not sure.

These are the basics. If possible, try installing the latest firmware for your network card. Normally, downloadable from the manufacture's site.

Regards,
Maha
