Hello kellywhalin

First, welcome to the great big world of computing. It's really amazing out here. There's lots to learn so be patient w/ yourself and enjoy the ride.

---

You can find Symantec's (they're the manufacturer of Norton 360) article on this issue HERE.

I'm not sure, however, if this addresses a restore of data, etc. that was backed up to an online service.

I think it would be much safer for you to speak w/ a Symantec representative regarding restoring your data that was backed up to their online data storage.

We want to make sure that you don't accidentally restore files to locations on your hard disk that will usurp current system files, etc. and cause your system to crash ("wig out").

Please, go HERE for Symantec's free online chat service and speak w/ a support representative there.

Be sure to post back here to follow up w/ us and let us know what happened and if your problem was resolved, etc.

E-mail and online chat support by Symantec are free. Telephone support is only $9.95 per incident. That's actually an excellent prices. Most companies want $30 or more per incident (problem).

I'd try the chat session 1st. If that is not successful, then go on to the telephone support. I'd save the email support for last or less critical issues.

You can find links to each of these Symantec Support avenues HERE.

Again, please, post back here and let us know how it goes, etc.

    Thank you,

    BJ @:)

    Hello kellywhalin,

I'm hoping you've been able to regain access to your Norton 360 Secure Online Strorge.

If you haven't, you are more than welcome to create another problem support request here on FixYa and we'll be happy to continue to assist you.

(Once you rate the experts in a problem - choose a "Best Answer" - the problem is automatically closed.)

I just want to say KUDOS! for having the forethought to use a backup service or to, in some way, backup your data. I can't tell you how many experienced and long-time computer users over the years I've witnessed unnecessarily experience serious data loss simply because they did not keep their data backed up.

So, get your data back my friend and get that backup service set up and running again. Of all the maintenance routines that should be regularly performed on a computer - keeping your data backed up is THE most important.

Finally: Thank you! v-e-r-y much for the FixYa rating. :)

Have a beautiful day. (We're having a very nice spring time day here.)

Hello,

I would suggest removing ALL detected Norton and Symantec products with the Norton Removal Tool for Norton 360 found here.

http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2007080716223439?Open&docid=2005033108162039&nsf=tsgeninfo.nsf&view=docid

After the uninstall of all Norton and Symantec programs you will also want to download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility found here. The download link is at the bottom of the More Information section,

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301

After the utility is installed and ran you will want to remove all Norton and Symantec programs listed in the removal list.

After you remove the programs and restart you should be able to reinstall the Norton 360 program.

I hope this helps. Please remember to rate this information.

Thanks

Secondly, Norton support will be able send you the file again so that you can complete the process.

Read the License Agreement, type your Product Key if prompted, and then click I Agree.
If you do not accept the License Agreement, you cannot continue the installation.
