Damaged screen on olympus u700 camera

On a recent night out someone stepped on the display screen of my olympus u700 camera with a stilletto heel (!) and now there is a small black area where display used to be. The screen itself is not cracked or damaged, and the camera takes pictures fine... the view is just obscured when you're taking one. Does this sound like a problem that can be reapired or should I just buy a new camera?!

you can buy new lcd displays fo $50 on ebay. Just search for your model. Install is a piece of cake, not rocket science.
