The output section has a problem and the amp is in protect mode. This unit needs service. Expect parts cost arounf $30-$50 plus the local labor rate.

Clipping the channels

The manual discusses the Clip Inidicator and how to deal with clipping.

Clipping in this amp isprimarily a function of the input signal being distorted so the input level is recommended to be lowered. Beyond that the cause of input distortion would have to be addressed in the device producing it.

Both fuses burnt and both clip and signal led on? seems to have full power behringer ep2500

Suspect an overload in either the power supply section or the devices on the main heat sink. In the power supply you are either looking at a transformer problem or semi-conductors associated with it. However since the clip and signal lights are on, I would go to the amp devices on the heat sink. If they are transistors test them with a Ohm Meter on the 1K setting in circuit even! You will soon notice which ones are gone! The meter will show like you had touch the test probes together!

What is the best level to set the gain

Try to set the gains at about half throughout a system. This is for best signal to noise ratio.

Be careful with these powerful amps that your speakers are rated above what these amps can deliver.

The fuses have blown due to a short circuit, ie some part acting like it was a piece of wire. The chances are (with the LED's showing) it's the main amp semiconductors (on the heatsink) that have gone. The cause is either connecting a wrong (unsuitable) speaker(s) for the job, or letting the two wires (to each speaker) touch each other.

Does anyone has overheat problem with Behrigher EP2500 power amplifier? We had the amp for abut a year. The amp. has recently become overheat (hand burning) after 30 minutes operation. We set the gain to...

The last time I had a problem like this there was a defective transistor in the from end that was generating noise in the 30K range. Too high to hear and too high for the speakers to reproduce, but enough to put quite a load on the amp. Does this occur even with no speakers attached? If so, then put an osciloscope on the outputs and look for signals. WIth no input, there should be no output at all except for a little noise. You can also see if there is any DC on the outputs as well.

Please update this with what you find.

Thanks,
Dan

Because one side of the amp lights up red and the other green

One side is in protect if your wired in stereo. The other side is working fine. You have to take that to an experienced electronics technichan that deals with pro audio. It will cost you 40+ dollars for a diagnosis but that amp is probably dead.I would suggest save up for a crown or qsc amp.

I get a constant noise after I plug in the guitar

The reason for the few seconds delay is that this amp uses a vacuum tube preamp which has to heat up before it operates.
Now with most amps at high gain you will get some noise, but it should be well below the level when you are running program material through it. The statistical electronic noise will be more of a hiss. If it is hum you are getting, then the filter caps MAY have failed. Also if you have light dimmers can sometimes get into the equipment.
First step is describing the type of noise. Behringer is VERY stingy on supplying schematics. Essentially they WON'T unless you are one of theior certified techs.
Your amp SHOULD be simple enough to fix without schematics UNLESS it has one of the Behringer digital effects. That board has a chronic failure of the DC filter cap.

Behringer amp

Hello pare ko.
EP2500 is a pro amp, manufacturer says that. Notorious to me.
Got 5 of these for repair. Clip is of course cause by too much
signal from source. If the amp is still clipped or on protect even w/out
signal in, time to open and do repairs inside. usually a MOSFET
inside P50N06 (50V-60A) is kaput. or MJE15033G and MJE15032G.
Now if blowing main Fuse, main txistor 2SA1943/2SC5200 maybe gone.
Read carefully the setting of your dip switches setting at the back.
This amp can drive 750 watts/ch@4 ohms.

Good Luck From Siliconchip
