Can I disable wireless and connect with ethernet cord and modem, for work do not want remove wireless cord, in the day want to be able to use my wireless.

Are you talking about direct-connecting via Ethernet to a cable or DSL modem? You shouldn't have to disable wireless to do that. If the cable modem has an open Ethernet port, you should be able to run a straight-thru Ethernet Cat-5 cable between that port and the Ethernet port on your laptop. The laptop should recognize that it is connected to the modem through the direct connection. Check the manual for the cable modem or information supplied by your ISP for connection details. You may have to do some setup on the modem to get an Internet connection, like having your ISP 'activate' the modem. Just be sure your Ethernet cable is a straight-thru, standard Ethernet cable, and not a 'cross-over' cable such as is used to transfer data between two computers.

How to connect pc to thinkland

Make sure your firewall is not blocking your ability to go to websites. I saw this the other day, somehow the users firewall was set to block all internet traffic out of the computer.
Disconnect ALL cables from the modem and routericon1.png: internet cable, power, (and ethernet). You can leave the computers on, but if this doesn't work , try it with the computers off.

Connect the modem, cableicon1.png, ethernet, and power. modem .
Connect power on router, Wait until router has a connection
then connect ethernet from modem,
then one by one connect the computer ethernet lines to the router.

Hi!! i have lenovo netbook s10-3, i want to run internet via sim card in my netbook. what i have to do to run internet in netbook. which software hav to install??? plz kindly explain me.......... ...

Hi dr_sureshkz,

I see that you want to use the Sim slot for the #g modem on your Lenovo s10-3.

About your question waht software you should use it really depends, you Internet service provider should be the one providing the software to be able to get conencted using the Sim card from your Internet Service Provider, Lenovo can only provide as much to the driver of the 3g modem but not the software to make it run for your intrnet.

try googling about the 3g Connection Manager but I have not used that program yet for such I only saw it in google that it will be compatible with any ISP.

I hope that this helps.

Have nice day,

My acer aspire one wont connect to internet. it says it is connected to wireless, and i have wired it to modem but the problem still persists. please help.

Based on your description, the following is assumed.
1. The service to your Internet Service Provider is through a cable or DSL modem.
2. Internet service was initially set-up with your netbook directly connected to the modem.
3. A wireless router was since added and is using the direct wired connection to the modem.
4. The netbook is connected to the wireless access point being provided by the router.
5. The netbook says it is connected to the wireless access point but still no internet access.
The problem is likely due to the modem capturing the MAC address of the netbook when access to the internet servce was initially set up using the netbook directly connected to the modem and now the modem will only allow access with the netbook directly connected to it. You can check this out by reconnecting the netbook directly to the modem. It may be possible to "flush" the captured MAC by unplugging the AC power to the modem, waiting a few minutes and then powering back up with the router connected in place of the netbook. To make it easier, you may want connect your netbook directly to the router's LAN side to check if you now have internet access through the router. If you still don't have internet access, you will need to use your netbook to log onto the router to clone your netbook's MAC address for the router's WAN connection. The router's user guide/manual has directions on logging in and doing the MAC address clone. It will also have an explanation as to what is a MAC address.

I wanted to search the web on the compaq armada 3500 that i got and was wondering where the cable goes and if it even gets internet

hi yes you should be able to connect a wifi dongle via the usb port on the side for your internet connection, you would have to buy a pcmcia network card if you want network connection to internet through your modem, so if you have wifi router/modem then a dongle would be better..hope this helps

My thinkpad wont connect to the internet ... help. I plug the cable in the modem is on and connected but the computer wont connect to the internet.

I think you might have forget to put DNS address in your network adapter setting.

Ask the Service provides for the DNS address and put it.

Your Internet should work.

Does my new Emachine laptop have no dial up modem?

Correct. It's looking for a standard dialer modem. You may just need to go through the internet connection wizard and define how you want to connect. With a wireless adapter, you could locate and connect to internet with that instead of a dial-up modem. Internet connetion wizard comes with Vista and XP and is found: Start > Control Panel > Network connections.

you have to go to the "Network connections" and set up a new network, your computer is probably defaulted to connect to the old modem and since it cannot find it it wont conect

Connectivity problem

it is still trying to connect via your modem, go to control panel>network connection, and you will see your modem dialup connection, right click and select dissable if required.

next open up internet explorer, go to tools>internet options, then click on connections tab, then half way down select 'never dial a connection'.

Click apply>ok, then close internet explorer, open it up again and wait a few seconds and it will connect via your router(asuming that it is correctly set up).

If no page appears then click refresh a few times.

Intermittent loss of internet connection

It sounds to me like an inactivity time out, like dial up ISPs do. Check that your ISP (internet service provider) doesn't require activity within a period of time before severing your connection.
Just a thought, and Good luck.
