Question about HP Televison & Video

Open Question

When I click on Live TV on my Media Center PC I get the following message "Tuner not installed - video cannot be displayed because no tuner hardware has been detected. Please check that your tuner hardware is properly installed and plugged in" however I have checked and all is correctly connected. Could this be a hardware problem or do I need to adjust a setting - it has been working fine until recently. Thank you.

I have a Magnavox 15MF400T/37 LCD TV operating with a cabel connection. As of yesterday it has no functions but when I turn it on I get a message that says Attention No Signal. I have checked the cable...

Some of the newer TV's dont turn on if there is no input signal. Try a DVD player and see if that works. If it does, then the issue is most likely with the cable jack on the TV, which may need to be replaced..

Mitsubishi VS 360RA TV tuner

I've got one of those, too. Tuner's been out since 1997 from lightning storm. Tuner was not available then, not available now. It's an ancient beast-- you won't find parts for it--not worth $20, anyway.

How do you tune a hitachi projector tv a 1992

1992 tv has an electronic tuner, if it doesn't tune, then you need to replace the tuner, or you can bypass the tuner by hooking up an external tuning source, vcr, cable box, sattelite box, to the audio video jacks and putting the tv on video 1 or 2 whatever input you hook it to.

Toshiba Tv - Does it have a digital tuner?

That unit has a NTSC tuner. May be HD Ready but it does not have a digital tuner. Unless you live quiet close to a local Broadcaster, rabbit ears would be useless.
The only way you would be able to get HD is using a HD Set Top Box, HD Satellite System,
or HD Cable BOX, using the Componet or HDMI inputs.
Hope this helps

The tv acts like the cable has gone out even though it has not. on my mitshubishi rear projection 52 in

do you have the yellow video and red and white audio rca cables ?
it will give you a better picture than the coax connection.
but the tv tuner may be going , so using the rca jacks would eliminate the tuner, but finding out which tuner is bad ( cable box if using one or the tv tuner)should be checked with another tv to see if it also happends to that tv , if it does not then the other tv tuner is bad and needs to be replaced

Sony projection tv with dual tuners; only one tuner appears to be working now.

To verify that the tuner is the problem, move the cable from the second to the first. If you don't get a signal, the tuner is bad. The main tuner is part number 859843000 and is available for $47.38 from

I need a universal remote code for the Olevia 232 S12. I have a universal remote from comcast cable. Thanks.

Universal hand held remote controls for television receivers vary in price and functionality.

some features to look for in a universal remote

1. Is it well supported and documented on the internet
2. Are your devices listed in it's data base
3. Does it list devices you think you may use in the future.
4. Does it have a nice easy to read display
5. Does it have easy to read buttons
6. Is it dammage resistant

And how much you're willing to pay for those features.

Thats the past !

Now the other part of the story.

Television sets are fast becomming a thing of the past because of the internet

a person can easly use their PC to watch television by getting a Tuner Capture Card or USB tuner capture device.

How I watch television on my own computer

I use an internal PCI single tuner capture card made by eVGA nvida called the NVTV and a program called "MediaPortal" an open source alternative to Microsofts MediaCenter

eVGA NVTV single tuner capture card was made for Microsoft Windows Media Center Edition ONLY

"MediaPortal" supports NVTV single tuner capture card under Microsoft Windows XP since the core driver for the card also worked under Microsoft Windows XP or XP pro or ( XP HOME which I've not tested ) You should only need MediaPortal unless

1. you have an internal PCI tuner capture card and have no other solutions
2. have a situation like mine where you have a no longer supported tuner capture card
3. if you have totaly lost your television software that came with your tuner.

The next move for me is to buy a USB tuner capture device as soon as humanly possible.

Hope this information gets you going.

No audio or video

If you can see the channel number as well as the volume setting when you press on the appropriate buttons on the remote, then it would seem that what happened is that your TV went into muting (video and audio). This can only be brought about if the TV is not receiving any signal from your cable or aerial. This is a built-in feature. Another possibility is that the tuner section of the TV has some issues. To determine whether cable or tuner, pls try installing a known operational VCR and play a good tape. Connect the RF OUT of the VCR to the CABLE/ANT IN of the TV. Select channel 3 or 4 and should you be able to watch the tap video, then you have just confirmed that it is your cable (or aerial). If on the other hand there is likewise no display on either 3 or 4, then you have just confirmed that somethings needs to be done internally in the tuner section.

Hope this be of some help/idea. Pls post back how things turned out or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.
