There was a power cut and now my PC will not boot. It gets as far as the Windows flag and then restarts. I've tried booting in safe mode, starting windows normally, starting from the command prompt, nothing works.

I downloaded the 6 XP Pro SP2 boot disks from Microsoft and tried booting from drive A with those. Didn't work, it says 'cannot load biosinfo.ini' 4110 error code.

    Any help would be appreciated.

I am also having a problem booting up my HP Compaq D530.   When I turn the computer on, I am getting a message indicating that it is saving my new settings for the hard drive, CD-ROM..etc.   When I save the settings, it then trys to boot off of a USB.   I have to go into the bios to set and resave the boot order to get it to boot off the hard drive.   Any idea what would be causing this?

In order for your system to boot up it has to insure that all things are working properly, as part of the boot up, the power supply must be good, the mother board must be checked, then the video card and sound card followed by the keyboard board check and then the monitor must be connected. So systematically check these things by taking each and isolating them. Hopefully you have a little background with hardware so that you can accomplish this. These are the most simple things to check. It can be alot more complicated if cables are failing or need to be replaced. One other thing to consider is this a new system or an older system. If its older than 5 years, I say buy a new one or upgrade if possible. If you have an older system and these issue are starting, it a sure thing that other things will happen such as failed hard drives, bad CD Roms, bad diskette drives and the list goes on.

These systems are plagued by 2 faults.
The power supplies die quite often and can become unstable. If it goes into this phase, then the computer will be getting unstable voltage.
The second is much easier to check for.

  1. Remove the top cover of the computer.
  2. Look at the motherboard (fairly closely) at the capacitors (round cylinders sticking up off the board)
  3. If you find any with the tops buldging upwards then you can be assured you have found your problem. The tops should be flat. You may even have some with blackish coloured residue on top.
If you need to, then just gently push any cables aside to allow proper inspection of the board. The main places are near the memory, cpu.

Hope that helps. =)

How do i reboot my acer aspire E1-510 from cd or dvd disc

It appears to be F2 on startup when you first see the Acer Logo
I searched the model via - aspire E1-510 and there are links to the manuals,
A note says. to activeate the BIOS utility press <F2> when you see the Acer logo during boot up.
you should then be able to select the boot order. e.g CD/ DVD, USB, Hard Disk etc.
Also try F9 for Windows boot options.

How do I enter setup when there is no option to enter

F2 is your bios setup, and F12 is the boot order selection, if you cannot access the two options there is no other way. That shows up when the Toshiba logo is visable. If your windows run properly I would not risk formatting the hard drive. But it might be worth contacting Toshiba, customer and technical support about the unusuall situation.

Hi when i satrt up my hp compaq mini 110 it wont load past the bios. it comes up with the options for F9: change boot device order, F10:BIOS setup options, F12: Network boot. if i leave it to laod past...

Check to see if any media is in you CD DRIVE, or any other drive because if BIOS is booting from the CD or other media first, it never gets to your hard drive thus never boots windows. If clear, Press F9 and enter into your BIOS setup. You will have to make sure your boot sequence/order is in order to boot first from the hard drive. If all is in order try F8 hitting it repeatedly until safe mode options appear. If this doesn't work post a reply and we'll go from there.

How do I install Windows 7 etc on new Asus 5X DC

get the windows 7 cd, put it in the DVD drive, watch for boot options when the computer starts something like "press F9" for boot options. Its typically (F9-F10 or F12) select boot from CD Follow the prompts. If you cannot locate the boot options. Go into System Setup at boot and change the BIOS Boot order, To CD first then hard disk. Cheers
