You have not mentioned the model. You can check the fuse at the high voltage output, Check the supply voltage is coming at the primary winding of the highvoltage Transformer. If they are all Ok, change the magnetron.

Generally, the most common causes of a failure to heat are:

- bad door switches or door switch mounts
- loose connection at the magnetron
- problem or loose connection on the control unit circuit board
- bad magnetron or other high voltage part (such as a shorted diode)

If you or someone you know decide to look into it, we have critical safety information, info on door switch diagnosis and replacement, and disassembly information at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383

Food not getting heated

There are three common issues, magnetron "heats food" cracked high voltage diode, or a shorted high voltage capacitor. In order to find out you will need a professional to assess, it will be probably cheaper to replace the microwave oven.

Likely a magnetron problem that will cost you between $135 and $160 just for the part if searching on-line for replacement.

My GE spacemaker II microwave won't heat what can I do

Hi,
The main internal component of your microwave oven is called a magnatron. This is the device which generates the microwaves that heat your food up. If your oven appears to be working properly but it's not heating the food, it means the magnatron is not generating microwaves. It could be faulty itself or it could be a component linked to the magnatron. (high voltage capacitor) etc.
Have this component checked by a qualified technician.
Let me know if I can be of any further assistance.
Best wishes,
Graemevm

Microwave runs but food does not heat

If everything appears to work as normal but does not heat, then the magnetron will be faulty. This is the device which cooks the food, however this can be an expensive part to replace & may not be economical to fix.

Everything appears to work fine but it is not heating anymore.

If the microwave oven appears to be working but it is not heating the food, it is very possible that the magnetron, or its power supply has failed.
