no there is nothing wrong with the motherboard, please shut it down, disconnect all the connectors, leave it for 10 or 15 min then connect only keyboard mouse and power and monitor cable, and switch it on, see what u get. let me know ok? i am waiting for ur reply :-)
There is nothing left to do for this one here. The best thing to do is to take your computer to the manufacturer for repairs. Other than that the best thing to do is to purchase an external optical drive / cdrom or dvd drive and purchase another windows xp disc and reinstall it. or if you have the windows cd for this computer that you could use that as well. Those are your best options.
I would try the following: 1. Remove the battery completely. If the computer boots properly several times in a row, then the battery may be causing the power supply to do strange things. 2. If you have experience removing laptop components, try removing the hard drive. Because you say the screen goes black (I assume the system powers off) sometimes after the HP logo, I doubt its Windows or a software issue. 3. If HP has a diagnostic CD you can boot to, try that. 4. It may be the power supply acting up. If it charges the battery, and if you can boot to Windows with the battery, try getting a new power supply. 5. Otherwise, it may be the motherboard of the laptop.
Let me help you regarding this, As your notebook is not having low room to handel the standby applications, i suggest you to change the power options in the control pannel. There you find POWER OPTIONS icon click on it and go to advance tab, there u find the option called WHEN YOU CLOSE THE LID, put it to DO NOTHING. So that nothing happens when you close the lid. I hope this helps you. BYE
