Question about Philips Magnavox 51MP392H Rear Projection Television
"Bowing" and distorted picture. Looks like a really bad 3-d picture. Sometimes it lasts longer but for now it eventually goes away either after the set has been on for a while or been turned off and on a few times. When it is in this "funky" mode, I can not adjust the manual convergence. When it clears, the convergence appears to be perfect.
I've seen several posts about the ICs needing to be re-soldered or the power supply needing to be replaced. I am not an electronics wiz (nor do I have access to any solder equipment). I paid less than $1000 five years ago for the 51" Magnavox...just wondering if it's better off to replace rather than spending what I imagine will be several hundred $$.
Shrinking and expanding video or no audio/video is fairly common problem. Goto www.magnavoxhelp.com to see if they have a repair kit for your model.
