Without knowing how your EOC-2611s connect to your network, I can only speculate. But...assuming your 2611 plugs into the Comcast router... Check the Ethernet port status. It should be 100Mbps Full (Duplex). If it auto-negotiated to half duplex, that would explain your throughput issues.
Try new CAT 5/6 cable or limited bandwidth. Plus NIC's respond differently withing Speed and Duplex settings. Test between auto and 100 full, and 10 full negotiation on PC. Network Connections > Right click > Properties > Configure > Advance > Speed & Duplex > Value. Might also be bottle necking as 10Mbs instead of taking advantage of of higher through puts.
amber light means your only getting 10Mb speed. Your ethernet port could be going bad on the laptop. Go to control panel > Network Settings > right click Your Network (LAN) adapter, properties, click configure, advanced tab and make sure your link speed is set to "auto negotiate" or "auto detect"
Step 1 Go to Start> Control Panel > and select Network connections.
Step 2 Right click on your network card (for 2000 and XP only)and select Properties.
Step 3 Select the Configure button.
Step 4 Under the Advanced tab you will see two boxes; Property and Value.
Note: Depending on the type of Ethernet card you are using the headings in the Property box will be slightly different.
Step 5
Select each heading in the Properties box until the Value box displays
the speed of your Ethernet card (it will look like this:
Auto-Negotiation, 10Mb Full, 100 MB Half, etc..). You want to select
10mb Full Duplex.
Step 6 Keep clicking OK until you get to
the desktop. Your computer may ask you to reboot depending on the
version of Windows you are running.
By default switch ports are in auto negotiation mode that means it will auto negotiates with the other end device for the speed and duplex settings.
If you want to hardcode the switch port to full duplex then you need to log into the switch management console and under the interface settings change the duplex to full for the inetrface.
Try changing the ethernet cable and try with different ports of the router, if you have another laptop or desktop try connecting with that this will help you to find where the problem is
After trying all the above steps if you find that both router and your computer and the cable is fine then try below steps
If everything will come fine then you can try the below steps
Go to my conputer icon on the desktop and then right click then go to properties and then hardware, in that click on device manager
Search for your LAN card in tha device list Right click on that and go to properties then go to the tab advance, and then select speed and duplex try changing the speed from auto to 10MB full and then disconnect and reconnect this should solve your problem.
Try forcing the ports that the server connects to on the switch to 100Mb Full duplex, sometimes one side negotiates incorrectly, and the switch can set itself to half duplex, even though the other end is set to full duplex.
